How to Surf a Blocked Site at Work

r a
Being daily in a workplace or school environment, I know that one thing that people complain about is how to get on blocked sites, a few of the most popular ones are MSN messenger, Beebo and MySpace. Youtube is also coming up quite frequently now. I also receive a lot of emails with people asking me on how to get on to a blocked site and how to hack their school computer, how to bypass filters and other security measures.

In a school or work place environment, certain sites are blocked and filtered so as to maintain the sanctity of the work environment and also to ensure that any work given to children's to perform on a computer will get done.

Businesses and places of work usually block these sites for several of the same reasons that a school does. Frequenting such sites constantly may result in distraction of the employees from work. Another reason they block sites like MSN, Beebo and MySpace is because it's also another way that information can escape out of the company uncontrolled. There are also several grave legal and liability issues that might well prevent a company from permitting private conversations with the use of equipment that belongs to the company. Another reason could also be to protect the companies systems from viruses or other hacker attacks, which are generally present on such sites.

These sites that are blocked are blocked for a reason, but they can also be very useful and keep you entertained during the boring hours at work or school. To get on these sites, there are a number of methods that may be used. These methods include using a web proxy, if you are able to get to a command box (Cmd box), pinging a site for it's IP address, making your own, using the Google cache, and using the Google language translator as a proxy.

There are many web proxy's available on the web and the list seems to be growing. A good one that I frequently use is http://nproxy.eu.tc only draw back is that most of these proxy's don't have and support SSL and do not allow you to login to a secure site like email sites. Another site that I often use is www.kproxy.com , this site allows you to open almost all mails, such as yahoo, gmail, rediff, msn etc, the drawback with this site is that generally there is a lot of traffic and the site gets overloaded pretty easily.

To use a command box, open notepad, and type in 'command.com' save the file with the file extension .bat. Then open the file and type in 'ping (the site you want to ping here' e.g. 'ping messenger . msn . com'. If you can get to the Cmd box, you can always try searching a search engine for the IP address of the site, or find an online pinger.

To access the sites that are blocked using the Google cache, search for the site, and towards the bottom of the listing, there should be a link that reads cached; this leads to a copy of the site that Google made when it first indexed the site.

You can also use the Google web translator as a proxy. I have not tried this, but my friend who did said it worked. Go to the Google translator, enter the web page, and for the language, choose from any language to English (or any other language you want).
