How to Survive a Blue State of Mind
In a Blue County, in a Blue City, in a Blue State, in a Blue Country
So blue.
I'm blue because of where I live.
Blue Illinois. Blue Cook County. Blue Chicago. Blue Evergreen Park.
I live where the Dead dead vote and the Living dead vote. They do it early and often. Usually the goal of both groups is to see how many dollars they can get the government on all levels to stuff in their pockets at the expense of their Living living neighbors.
True, they don't look at it as larceny. Rather these good dead folk see it as "investing". Investing in the government schools, investing in programs for families, programs for old folks, programs for health care, programs for pets, programs for programs. All for the Commonweal. They think.
When does the well run dry?
Why do they think they can take my money and use it for their pet projects?
How much more can I pay in gas taxes, real estate taxes, sales taxes, utility taxes, payroll and social security taxes, income taxes, dividend taxes and savings and future death taxes before I cry uncle?
The Dead will say it is the price I pay to live in a civil society. Been saying that for seventy years. Where is this civil society?
I'm blue...
I'm not one of those nut cases that does not want to pay any taxes, or thinks that somehow I'm not required by law to pay income taxes, or that will search out a way to find one millionth of a drop of Indian blood so I can opt out of Social Security.
I'm just asking for some degree of fairness.
The Dead always talk about fairness. It is their favorite word, I think. Everybody must be equal, things must be fair. You, Mr. Right Guy, must pay your fair share.
Okay, what is my fair share? Is it twenty or thirty or forty or forty-two or ninty-five percent of what I work so hard for? And how come when I give my fair share I don't get much of a say in how it is used?
I'm blue...
Today, in the corrupt state of Chicago and its territory Illinois, we put a big haired, blown dry Governor Blagojevich back in office. He is already overseeing a fiscal disaster of a state, and he campaigned on how he was going to extend health care to all us peasants and be our big daddy, no worries. He wants to be the Great White Chief someday, and he may make it, if the federal prosecutors are bought off.
I'm blue...
While I speak the votes are being flimflammed for the Cook County Board President's office by the royal line of Stroger. For those outside our evil kingdom, Old Man Stroger, a political mooch servant for forty years had been Board President. He had a stroke, and was running as the semi-dead, until he was withdrawn and his giggly little son was installed as heir apparent. He found a strong opponent in a Republican challenger, Tony Peraica, who was a trustee on the board. Well, woodin' youse just knows it: dem ballot machines over by dere are not workin' so good, so off they go to Cook County headquarters so the ballots can be stuffed - er, counted - by hand.
I am sure the professionally outraged Dead will see the injustice in this and launch a protest similar to the one in Florida in year 2000. What, the Dead only pull for their own? Oh, yes. Forgot. Dead goes to dead.
I'm blue...
I'm blue because we had non-binding referendums on the ballot about the Iraq front in the war, and the majority of Dead want things wrapped up neat and quick for Osama. Note, I said Osama, not Obama, the junior senator of our Illinois territory. They no doubt are looking at it money-wise. Less military spending and more pennies to spread amongst the Dead.
I'm blue...
Because we will be facing dangerous times ahead. President Bush has been fighting a war to please the Dead, some of whom are members of the opposing party. Now that the Dead faction of the opposing party will take control, they will be able to fight the war the best they know how. By sticking their Dead Heads in the sand and cutting and running.
I'm blue...
Because the Dead have voted yes in a referendum to raise their minimum wage from $6.50 to $7.50. Nobody makes that around here. McDonald's can't pay that and keep anybody. No, it just forces all wages up, including the highly paid union workers, who have it built into their contracts. All other payroll expenses go up as well with this, so no doubt a few more of the bottom rung workers will be making a different wage: Zero!
I'm blue...
I don't recognize this country. When I was growing up people wanted to work and be left alone and take care of their own. It has flipped. So many, including illegals who take advantage of the system, don't want to work, want to be coddled by their big Uncle Sam and his kid states, and they want somebody else (you and me) to take care of them and their own.
I'm blue in a blue state in a country that is going blue. From lack of oxygen and good sense.
