How to Survive a Doctors Office Visit

Rik Rodriguez
While this might seem a little over dramatic, these days a typical doctor is really unprepared to take care of you. Maybe you might think I am saying this in jest but I am speaking from experience. Most of the conventional Doctors that I know and have worked with believe that prescribing drugs is the way to cure your aliments.
Most of the drugs that they are giving you will only mask the symptoms of your illness, they have plenty of side effects and over all are not likely to help you sustain health. I met a man at one of the more popular stores, picking up his prescriptions for the month. He was spending almost $300.00. He had at least 5 different pills that his Doctor told him that he had to have.

I say that your Doctor works for you and we should be doing some research on the types of medications that they are trying to give us. Doesn't that make sense or are you the type of person that hears a knock an you car and runs to the mechanic with out even trying to at least know a little about your car? Most people are, if this is you and you are to lazy to even look up on the Internet a little bit of what is wrong with your car. Then you deserve what you get when the mechanic tells you that its going to cost you thousands. Be realistic, we are talking about your body not your car. Do you run to the doctor every-time you get a little sniffle and want him to give you drugs. Isn't that just like the drug addict on the corner of the street. I am not trying to be rude but I am trying to get the point across. Take responsibility for your own health. Try to work with your Doctor and for goodness sake do not totally depend on your Doctor to tell you what is wrong with you. You should know yourself much better than he or she does.

Do not get me wrong, there are plenty of great doctors out there that really care about the people that they take care of. But that still does not mean that they know everything. They are restricted on what they can use to treat you, seriously! For example I remember a time that we had a patient in the hospital that was refusing blood for religious reasons. He had an AV fistula and was basically bleeding to death. Of course I suggested that we have the patient drink Aloe Vera to stop the bleeding. The Doctors treated me like I was an idiot. They could never suggest such a thing it was against their policy even though they were practicing medicine. I snuck behind the Doctors back and talked to the patient, I explained to him and showed him that other people in his situation have had pretty good results using the treatment I was suggesting. He was going to die so what the heck he thought he would try it. He drank a whole bottle of the Aloe Vera I suggested. The bleeding stopped with in 48 hours and he was able to go home in less than a week. The moral of the story is, do not let your Doctor do all the thinking for you.
