You should be thankful that you have a job, especially in this economy. So many are out there still looking for a job, any job to make ends meet. But, you are spending eight hours a day five days a week at this job. You shouldn't have to be miserable the whole time. Use these tips to help make your job more fun:

Improve the look of your workspace with plants and photos.

Most people have photos of their loved ones on their desks. Plants that require very little water are good to have on your desk. They will give a fresh scent to your space. Keep down the clutter around your desk. It will make you feel less stressed. Be sure the job doesn't physically make you sick. Some people suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome, eye strain, or posture issues. Don't sit so close to the computer screen. Sit up straight with your feet on the floor.

Talk to your co-worker.

Socializing makes your life more pleasant. It can even improve your work profile. Build a relationship with your boss. When you do, it will allow you to highlight your achievements. Also include the junior employees and interns. Being a mentor will feel good and pay off when they move up in ranks and start hiring their own staff.

Sometimes you may feel that there is no line between your personal and professional life. Whenever possible bring your lunch from home. You'll be able to choose a healthier meal. It will be cheaper too as long as the weather is fair, eat your lunch out side. Experts say that sunshine can help to conquer depression. You should never eat at your desk. Take a break from looking at that computer screen.

Try to cross-train.

You may think that your daily routine tasks are boring. Ask to be assigned to more work. If you hear of projects that you wish you could be a part of. Ask your boss if you can join the team. It may mean taking on extra work. Even if you lack the skills for that job, develop these skills. Sometimes all you have to do is ask for the training. There are no raise s right now, so manager are looking for other ways to reward employees. When the recession ends, that training can put you at the tip of the lost when a new job opens.
