Here are a few ideas for things that can keep you occupied for a few miserable days without television.
The first thing that you can do is sleep. Everybody likes to sleep. Though it seems boring, it sure beats sitting around doing nothing. Sleep certainly isn't the most productive thing to do, but it will help time pass. Don't sleep all day, that would make you lazy, but it is ok to sleep more than usual if you have nothing to do.
Another idea is to read. Most people say to not like reading, and that is fine, but there has to be some topic that is appealing to everybody. The key is to find literature that is written on a topic of fascination to you. For example, I hate reading, but if I can find a book or magazine that has something to do with sports, I will read it willingly. You would be surprised how quickly time passes when you are reading something that you really enjoy. Sometimes this even becomes a problem because there isn't enough material to read!
The next idea is a great one. Write for AC! Even though you most likely would not have a computer if you do not have electricity or a T.V., writing is still possible. Just use a notebook and either write whole articles, or just jot down ideas for when you can get to a computer. If you have a laptop, you are very well off and can just submit your work when you get back to civilization.
Possibly the best thing about having nothing to do is the opportunity to get closer to your family and friends. Hopefully you didn't go camping by yourself. Most likely your family and friends will be around. Take the time to talk to everyone. You may be surprised just how entertaining the people around you are.
The next idea some people might not like, but it is worth discussing. Go for a walk! Exercise is something that most people do not get enough of and it shows with the obesity rate in the world. Just think, would it really kill you to go for a little walk or jog (if you are really feeling ambitious)? Not only is this good exercise, it is a good time to just think and have some quiet time. If you have a friend to walk with you that is even better because you have someone to talk to.
These are just a few ideas of things to do when you have a weekend away from your tube. The bottom line is...be creative. You will make it!
