More people are switching to contact lenses these days because it's an easier way to accomplish vision correction. Switching to contact lenses can also save you a lot of money. Even though contacts are better than glasses in helping to correct your vision there is still a lot of things you need to learn about them.
If you plan to switch to contacts from glasses you need to make an appointment with an optician so that you can be fitted for contacts. You will be able to get a prescription for your contacts, and your optician will also examine your eyes for any other eye problems that you might have.
There should be lots of contact lenses that you can select from. There are several different manufacturers of lenses with their own unique styles. After getting your eyes fitted for contacts your optician should tell you the style that's best suited for you.
Don't wear your contacts for a long time without taking them out when you first start wearing them. You should give your eyes time to get use to the contacts. Wearing them for too long at any one time can cause you eye problems. Leaving them in for only a couple hours a day is usually what's recommended for when you first start wearing them. You can start wearing them longer as your eyes gets use to them.
Something else that you will have to get use to, is that you have to handle your contact lenses much more different than with glasses.
You have to be careful to avoid scratching your lenses and also make sure that your hands are clean when handling them.
Contacts can also cause your eyes to feel dry, so be prepared for that. Contact lenses causing dryness is something that is very ordinary so don't be alarmed. When wearing glasses, this is one problem that you probably didn't have to deal with. When your eyes start to feeling dry just put some of your re-wetting drops in them and that should solve the problem.
Even though your glasses required a lot of cleaning, your contact lenses will need to be thoroughly cleaned daily. The best way to clean your contacts is to leave them overnight in cleaning solution. Your contacts should be good to go when you wake up the next morning.
A lot people still prefer contact lenses to glasses even though they require more careful tending. You will need to replace them every couple of weeks for a more refreshed pair. Contact lenses are a great way for you to be able to see things better without having to wear glasses.
