How to Switch SIM Cards Between Trac Cell Phones

One way to easily retain your phone billing info, photos, and other data when getting a new mobile device is to move the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card to the new phone. The SIM card is not compatible with other phones other than the original type it came with, so you will have to select a similar device or else move to a SIM card that is compatible with the new mobile you selected. Since there is no contract, you may change phones for any reason without losing the remaining minutes on your old phone. These minutes can usually be transferred to your new phone through a process called a phone upgrade. Here's how you change the SIM:

1, Turn phone over and remove the battery compartment cover. If you somehow don't know how to do this, review the user guide pamphlet that came with the phone. Sometimes youtube features videos that show people how to do the simplest things.

2. Take out the phone battery. The SIM card is usually located behind the battery and looks like a small disk. Don't mishandle a SIM! Remember, it's going to a new phone and has your personal data on it.

3, Change the SIM card and replace the battery. Please be as careful puttin it in as you were taking it out. If a new SIM, ensure it is compatible with the new model mobile. If it doesn't seat well (or at all) in the phone, or doesn't operate in terms of sending or receiving signals, it's likely either you installed it wrong or the SIM card is incompatible.

4, Plug the TracFone in with the wall charger until it is fully charged before using.

5, If you are then going to transfer minutes from the old card to the new: Log in to your online account using your email and password. If you need to create a new account, you will have to provide personal information including your name, date of birth, home phone number, ZIP code and email address. You will also need to set up a password and security question to protect your account.

6, Follow the prompts to activate your new phone and transfer the old minutes to it.
