My observation is that common cold is caused often by consuming cold drinks, particularly after a strenuous exercise. It is obvious that one should be drenched with sweat after a sport. Most of the people, even before the sweat dries, and the body temperature return to normal have cold drinks that are sometimes almost frozen. This practise is sure to cause cold; there could be no better situation for cold to catch up. It would lead the phlegm to accumulate, which would make the things far worse. The first and the foremost symptoms in most of the cases are throat infection and continuous sneezing. We should try to ward it off right away or it will have us suffering for a weeks' time. In my case I have the same initial symptoms. Then I have regular headaches and I feel the head to be heavier. Accumulation of the phlegm in the chest will cause respiratory problems. Meeting the doctor and getting prescribed for is the most basic essentiality, after that we have to be more careful.
I personally start consuming warm water to easy the pain in the throat. We should try to avoid foods, which tend to cool our body. Once the medicines take effect cold starts to reduce and this is the stage where in it starts spreading. We very well know that it is contagious and spreads through air. The final stages have the victim to be coughing. I hate this stage as it never allows me to concentrate on anything and would often make everyone stare at me no matter where I go. Coughing could be more painful and also disgusting to the self and the people around. Cough syrups come to the rescue with side effect of drowsiness. Then the accumulated phlegm starts reducing and we start feeling a whole lot better than before. Then we are ready to lead a cold free life, but most of us don't know that as soon as we are out of the symptoms we already start catching the symptoms once again. Whenever the symptoms of cold get severe I wish that I was a fish so that I would have never caught cold. But recently researches prove that even fishes show symptoms which are similar to what we have in the name of common cold. Well I think it is better to be a human, at least I can get medicated.
