How to Use Tagfoot to Promote Your Content

FootWorthiness a Key Factor in Getting Page Views

Taylor Rios-Denoir
Tagfoot is a social bookmarking site that is not like Digg or StumbleUpon. Tagfoot is the most user-friendly and nicely laid out Web sites for bookmarking I have come across. Tagfoot also has a great community of users that are friendly and helpful.

While other bookmarking sites have not really helped me with page views for my Associated Content articles despite all the effort I put into them, TagFoot is different. TagFoot is not just a bookmarking site, it is a social networking site and is great to network. I have already noticed a few other Associated Content members on Tagfoot and have had great success in gaining page views.

In order to use Tagfoot effectively to promote your content, you need to become FootWorthy so other members will know that your bookmarks are interesting. If you are not FootWorthy, very few people will want to read your bookmarks. Before I explain how to become FootWorthy, you need to understand all the elements in TagFoot.

New Member Basics
When you first register for Tagfoot, you will be given a choice of mentors. After selecting your mentor, he or she will contact you often giving you tips to help make your Tagfoot experience an enjoyable one. Any questions or concerns you have can be sent to your mentor where you will receive a prompt response. They also have a place on Tagfoot for you to introduce yourself as a new member. After you say "hello" and type in a few words about yourself, you will start getting friend requests from other members. Make sure that you extend a warm welcome to other new members and ask them to be your friend if you have similar interests. Bookmarks don't get shared effectively if you don't have friends you can share them with. Tagfoot makes it extremely easy to make new friends. I have not encountered any negative members on Tagfoot yet. It's a great community to join.

Bookmark Sharing Options
You are given the option of simply saving your bookmarks and keeping them private, allowed only friends to see them, or letting all Tagfoot members look at them. You also have the option of sharing your bookmarks via private message to one, some, or all of your Tagfoot friends. These messages will not clog up your e-mail inbox, as Tagfoot has an inbox on their Web site where all your messages are sent. Tagfoot will send a notification to your e-mail letting you know when someone has sent you a private message or shared something with you.

Footing Up
Your friends will let you know if they like a bookmark you shared with them by giving it a "foot-up". Make sure you go through your friends bookmarks and foot-up the ones you find interesting. That will increase the chances of you having what I like to call FootWorthiness. FootWorthiness means that you are worthy to be footed. If a Tagfoot friend is sharing too often, you can adjust the settings. This way, you control what you receive in your inbox.

TagFoot Goodies
There are a lot of goodies on Tagfoot. There is a widget that allows you to add items that relate to certain tags to your Wishlist. You can configure your widget and place it in your Web sites or blogs, which will send people to Tagfoot. If they buy these items. Tagfoot also has a Sidefoot, which is like a toolbar to make adding your bookmarks easier. TubeFoot allows you to listen to music while surfing the internet for free. TwitFoot allows all of your comments to be broadcast to Twitter. You have to enable the TwitFoot before it will broadcast, so if you are a private person you don't have to worry. Tagfoot will not send anything to Twitter without you enabling it first.

Levels Of FootWorthiness

Spam is not allowed on Tagfoot and if someone attempts to Spam, it is reported quickly. Spammers are given the badge of SpamFoot. Once members see that badge next to your profile, they will start blocking you and you will have no footness at all.

Tagfoot has places for everything. Your categories are bookmarks, wish list, news, pictures, videos, and tags. Once you have a footness of 1,000 and have 10 of each of the categories, you can apply to become a ProFoot. Support will be looking at what you have saved, so make sure that they are quality bookmarks and that you are not just adding junk. A ProFoot is allowed to integrate Google Adsense into their Tagfoot account, giving them an opportunity to earn money. You will also get a shiny "ProFoot" badge on your profile.

TagFoot also has opportunities to become a BigFoot, whose responsibility is to monitor postings. They are not spying on you, they look for any problems and making sure that illegal material isn't being posted. Once you get approved to become a BigFoot, you get another shiny badge.

After you have acquired the prestigious title of BigFoot, your next challenge is to become a Mentor. Being a Mentor is a big responsibility; you will be assisting new members with questions and helping them get acquainted with the site. You will become the first Tagfoot friend to new members.

There is also the 100,000 Footness badge, which will also be posted to your profile. The 100,000 footness badge tells other members that you have awesome bookmarks that have been footed up over and over again. The 100,000 footness is a huge honor at TagFoot!

A Scavenger badge is also available to the members that hunt down the newest, coolest, weirdest, and funniest sites on the internet and share them on Tagfoot with all their friends. When a Scavenger shares something, all members know it is good.

How FootWorthiness Increases Page Views
The more quality bookmarks you have, the more that the other members will read what you post. Notice that I said quality, not quantity. If you only bookmark and share Associated Content articles, word will get around that you are only on TagFoot to self-promote and not to share anything interesting. Sure, your articles may be very informative and of interest to a lot of people, but people want to read and see other things besides your articles.

You will want to hold off from posting your articles until you have 5 other Web sites bookmarked on TagFoot. Bizarre and Humor are two commonly used tags, so try to find pages or sites that fit these tags. If you start bookmarking your articles right off the bat, your TagFoot mentor will contact you and gently remind you not to Spam. You will want to create a balance of bookmarks. I usually add one article for every 3 or 4 unrelated bookmarks.

If you follow the above guidelines, then you will have a polished, organized, and balanced look to your TagFoot bookmarks, which is FootWorthy. Remember to add quality sites to your bookmarks so others will give you a foot up. The number of your foot ups resembles how many members like what they see, which will prompt them to share it with their friends on TagFoot.

I encourage you to check out Tagfoot so you can see for yourself how you can gain more page views for your Associated Content articles by improving your FootWorthiness.
