The most important thing that you should do in order to take good care of your exercise machines is to do your exercises properly. Follow the instructions on how to perform reps and make sure you don't just let go after you're done. Remember, there are counterweights on the machine and if you let go abruptly, they could break or get misaligned.
Upon set up and installation, make sure you follow the directions carefully. Make sure there aren't any lose parts and if you think you're having a hard time setting it up, you should be able to seek assistance from the store where you bought them. Proper installation will make sure your machine is in good working condition when you use it and it will also help you exercise effectively.
If you're going to use it at home, make sure you put it in a place where it won't be an obstruction. You should have enough room to do your routines. Do not forget to do some routine checkup on your machine. Let's say after 3 months or so, check the joints, screws, cables, weights and so on if they are all in place and working properly.
Avoid choosing heavy weights if you can't do it yet. As mentioned above, you may not be able to handle the tension. It could damage the machine but most importantly, it may lead to injuries. Ask a professional on how to use your machine properly. Also, do not let young children play around with your machine. They could be seriously injured if left alone.
Hygiene is very important and this is one of the things that you should consider especially if you're using exercise machines in a public gym. Just imagine using a machine with several people's sweat on it. I am working out in a public gym right now. There are cleaning cloths lying around that you can use to clean the equipments before and after use.
Taking good care of your exercise machines will not only make your exercises effective but will lessen the risk of any injury or accident. It's going to be troublesome if they get damaged because of misuse or lack of maintenance. They're not cheap and not everyone can afford to buy them or have the opportunity to use them so treasure them.
