How to Take Care of Your Garden

Taking care of your garden requires just a little bit of your time and care. Here are some simple tips that will improve the health of your garden:

1. Water, sun and fertilizer.

No plant grows with out these 3 things. They are like water, food and air for humans. Make certain that your plants are getting a sufficient amount of these essential items. Beware though, too much of any of these things will also kill the plants. Each plant is unique and so are its needs. Research the needs of your plants so that you can give them exactly what they require to flourish.

2. Have annual and perennial plants.

An annual plant blooms on its own every season but a perennial plant blooms only for one season then withers. You must replant perennials; they will not come back again. If you plant both annuals and perennials in your garden, you will always have something blooming.

When planting you need to make sure that your seeds or bulbs are placed about 8 inches in the ground. When you cover them with soil, leave a slight indentation in the ground so that when you water the plant it goes directly to the plant, and not run off on to the ground around it.

3. Weeding and trimming.

Ridding your garden of unwanted weeds will allow your plants room to grow strong roots. This keeps them healthy and green. Always remove any dead leaves from your plants and snip any withered flowers. This will allow room for more flowers to come.

4. Insects

Keep an eye out for insects on your plants. The wrong insects in your garden can be fatal. Of course, not all bugs are bad, like bees that pollinate the flowers. You should research and learn what insects help your garden and which of them are harmful.

If u do find, after researching, that you have and insect problem, then look for natural ways to get rid of them. Tobacco is sometimes used to ward off certain insects. Research this subject also.

Some plants can easily be planted, like the yucca, by simply taking a cutting of a live plant and sticking it into the ground. Water it, fertilize it and make sure it gets the sun it needs. You will see a shoot popping up in no time.

Once you have these essential things down, maintaining your garden is very easy and enjoyable. With all your flowers blooming and flourishing, take some into the house and put them in a vase. Sit back, relax and enjoy the beauty you've been nourishing.
