How to Take the Children Out During Summer with Limited Income

Summer is here and your children are ready to have fun and embrace the warm weather. If your budget is a bit tight you might be stuck not knowing what to do with the kids. You might not have the funds to take a ride to Six Flags or even to Disney World but that is okay because there are many ways that you can enjoy the summer with your kids without having much money.

1. Visit the pet store. Your local pet store should have a nice variety of animals that the children can look at. This is a great alternative to the zoo if you do not have much money. You do not have to actually buy anything from the pet store to go look at the animals. After you spend time looking at the animals take your kids to get ice cream. You do not have to get ice cream at shops like Ben &Jerry's instead go to a local store and get ice cream sandwiches or popsicles from the freezer.

2. Go to the movies. Many movie theatres across the country (such as Showcase Cinemas) have established a summer reading program for kids where they can watch a movie for free on certain days of the week, all the kids have to do is return in a book report. The book report does not consist of writing it is a simple form that children or parents can fill out. The form asks the child's name, the name of the book they read and their teacher's name. Other movie theatres (such as AMC Lowes Theatres) have a summer movie program for children where parents pay 1$ for them to view a movie.

3. Visit the Beach. Many people underrate the beach. The beach is such a lovely place to visit in the summer and the best thing of all it is free. Pack up some food from home and head down to the beach to spend a nice day.

3. Visit your local Library. Many libraries have summer programs for children. These programs usually include puppet shows and story tellers. Many libraries have these programs for children just once a week.

4. Go to the park. The park can be hot be it will be fun, just be sure to bring the children some water and maybe a little bit of snacks. If you can find a park with water sprinklers that will be a plus.

5. Obtain a museum pass from the library. Many libraries have movie passes that allow families to attend certain museums at a discounted price. These passes are a price savior. You might have to pay a refundable fee to obtain the pass and then you can enter the museum at a discounted price.

6. Go bike riding. If you have bikes pull them out and enjoy a nice ride in the park, or by the beach, or through the neighborhood. This can provide a lot of fun for your children.

7. Hang out at home. If you have a home, you can use your backyard as a platform for fun! Pull out a water hose and spray your kids. Fill a bunch of water balloons up and have a water balloon fight. Afterwards, enjoy a nice snack on the lawn.

8. Make ice cream sundaes and watch a movie at home. Have a smorgasbord at home and make your own ice cream mixture and then watch a family film. This will be great to do on days that are very hot.
