How to Take Your Competitors Customers

How to Steal Your Competitors Customers

L J Pearce
Any marketplace is tough, and no matter what business you have or run, you are most likely to have competition, which is believe it or not healthy. It helps you stay on top of the game and much more. If however you want a few more customers and would like to grab your competitors customers then here are a few ways, ideas and suggesstions as to how you can potentially increase your customer base.

1. Improve your product base or product range. DO your market research, find out what your competitors are not offering, and also find out what people want and need, and then fulfill their needs to increase your customer base.

TOP TIP: Remember that your product, or service you offer is key. Remember your USP when trying to gain your competitors customers, and remember to give customers what they want as Customer = King.

2. Undercut your competitors and/or improving your pricing strategy or strategies- This might be ok in the short term, but undercutting is not really ideal for building a larger customer base over the long run, so try if you can to tempt or get customers from your competitors with prices, and then apply other techniques to keep them such as good customer service, excellent policies, staff, reputation and so on.

3. Find out where your competitors are weak, and then expose their weaknesses. By this I mean find out what your competitors are not doing that they should be doing, and then you do it and do it well (if you are not doing so already).

TOP TIP: Dont play dirty when trying to get more customers. Do everything and anything above board, as you dont want to lose the customers you have just acquired.

4. Dont try and do everything all at once. By this I mean dont try to take all of your competitors customers just for the sake of it, as more than likely they will not be your target market. SO instead just work out who your target market is, what proptotion of the target market your competitors have and then go from the. Remember dont try to be everything to everyone. This may work in the short term, but is unsustainable in the long run.

5. Go after the market as a whole, by this I mean go after your target market/target share as apposed to going after each of your competitors.

I hope you have found this article both useful and helpful, and I wish you every success with getting your competitors customers.
