There are millions of people who suffer from high blood pressure. These people do not usually know they have these symptoms until it has hurt them very deep. High blood pressure can cause hardening of the arteries, heart attacks, strokes, kidney problems, blindness and death. This is why people should get checked more regular for this deadly disease. In this article I will give you some steps to how you can reduce the risk of high blood pressure and save your life.

The first step in controlling your blood pressure is eating healthy. First thing to do is reduce your salt intake to about 5 grams a day. A low sodium diet will help your blood pressure stay low and make you healthier. Eat less calories during the day is another good way to help blood pressure. Try to break down your meals to 3 a day and limit snacks to maybe one or 2 as well. The next step in eating healthy is eating more fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables can give your body proper nutrients which will help your body function properly. They give you more energy and strength which will keep your blood pressure low and healthy. The final step is drinking lots of water to keep your body cool and healthy. Drinking lots of water will flush out sodium, waste, and harmful bacteria in your body. Water keeps your body cool, refreshed and relaxed, which helps your body regulate a lower blood pressure.

The next step in controlling your blood pressure is physical activity. The more the body sweats the better; this releases excess water within the body. Physical activity helps keep your heart healthy which can keep your arteries from clogging so blood can flow better within your body. There are many physical activities you can do such as, walking, running, jogging, bicycling, stretching, dancing, and so on. Most gyms have free trials, yearly and monthly plans where you can sign up with a personal trainer to help you with your workout. Physical activity is very important especially for younger people; it can help lower their blood pressure by the time they get older.

The final step in controlling your blood pressure is medication. There are many medications that are prescription or natural herbs that work in many different ways. One should only take medication if the steps I stated above and no smoking or drinking does not help keep your blood pressure low. The medications natural or prescription can help your body get rid of excess water, salt, keep blood vessels from being blocked, slow down your heart rate, and so on. Most prescription medication have side effects which can be harmful too your body, it would be best to have your doctor make sure your body can handle the medication. If you choose to use natural herbs they have no side effects but take longer to help you than prescription medication. Some people require more than one medication, for this a good idea would be to use prescription and herbal medication this usually works better. You must always consult your doctor first when taking any medication since everyone's body is different and can have different side effects than someone else.

Once you follow these steps and consult your doctor keep checking your blood pressure regularly. You can purchase a blood pressure machine at any local pharmacy after you get the results consult your doctor. Many people do have high blood pressure but choose not to get it tested. Blood pressure is a very fatal illness and should not be taking likely, follow these steps and your doctor's advice to help prevent or control high blood pressure.
