How to Take Your Creativity a Step Higher

Rashel Dan
Have you noticed that you have been running out of ideas lately? There may be a number of reasons why this may be happening. It could be that you are too busy to even think of anything new. Or perhaps you have lost your grip on how to control your stress level. Whatever the reason, step back for a while and stop what you are doing. Assess what is wrong and nurture your creative side so that you can once again make the decisions in the caliber that you used to.

Listen to soothing music

As classical music goes, it has been proven that musical works by the likes of Bach and Mozart have helped in the stimulation of the mind. By listening to soothing music on your free time, you help to relax your body and mind therefore freeing up more cells in your brain for newer ideas to settle in.

Sit and think

Nothing beats coming up with a new and great idea like sitting around and brainstorming. A brainstorming session with friends or people you work with will definitely stimulate your creative side. You will be amazed at the number of ideas you can come up with if you set aside everything you are doing and just sit back to relax over a cup of coffee.

Take notes

Einstein was notoriously known to keep notes about everything. This was so he didn't have to keep anything in his head and if he needed to remember something he would refer to his notes. With technologies making it even easier to take down notes and record discussions, it would be a good idea for you to take notes too. That way, if you ever lose your train of thought, you can always look back at where you left off.

Know your problems

The trouble with coming up with a good idea is that there are so many other problems that keep you from even trying to think them up. The best way around this is to make a list of all the things that bother you. Think up and write down all of the problems you are facing and then try and solve them one at a time. While you are solving them, eventually you are freeing up some time for newer ideas to hit you.

Television is no good

Although there are so many facts that you can pick up just by watching television, this is not the best way to boost your creativity. By keeping yourself updated with all the current programs on television, you are denying yourself the time to create your own things. You might even come up with a great idea for a television program if you stopped watching for a while. The best thing to do is to schedule some time off to watch television. All it's good for really is the news.

Read books

Got a lot of time to waste and you don't catch yourself thinking of anything? Spend that time reading books to exercise your brain. The more words you learn and stories you read will help boost your creative side. If you are an aspiring writer or artist, read up on the classics and do some research on contemporary writers as well. This will keep you updated with writing styles and plots. At least you won't catch yourself writing a book on something that has already been written about.

Getting creative is a gift that everybody has. Of course, the problem is time. In this day and age it seems that it's the one thing that everybody lacks. Go against this mentality and make time to be creative. You won't regret all the good ideas that are waiting to be released from your mind.

I'm going to start working on taking more notes. I have also read about others who follow this same obsession with notes and I think it's a great idea.
