So, you just had a new baby and now you're ready to take some cute baby pictures to show off your newborn? This article will teach you, step by step, how to take cute baby pictures. You don't need to be an experienced photographer at all, you just need a digital camera, a few props, and any kind of photo editing software. Here are the steps:

Step 1. Use natural lighting

For the best results taking baby pictures, I suggest using natural light instead of indoor lighting. People look best in natural daylight apposed to incandescent or florescent lighting. You can either place your baby in an outdoor setting, or near a window inside your home that lets in a lot of light. Be careful not to mix natural and indoor lighting. In other words, don't have the blinds open and the lamps in your home on.

Step 2. Take pictures right after your baby wakes up

One of the best times to take baby pictures is right after the baby has woken up and eaten some food. This is the best opportunity to catch a snapshot of your baby with a pleasant, contented look on their face.

Step 3. Take close-ups

Your baby pictures will come out best if you focus on taking close-up shots of your baby. The goal is to fill the frame up with your baby and not the background or other objects. If you have an SLR camera, you can create a nice depth of field by taking close-ups, which will give your photos a more professional look.

Step 4. Make the baby look and laugh at you

Use a silly puppet or toy you can hold in your hand to get your baby to look towards the camera and smile or laugh. This may take a lot of patience on your part, but if you want a great baby picture, you have to get a smile.

Step 5. Experiment with different props

Try setting up different props around your baby. Flowers, baskets, toys and pillows all make for great props.

Step 6. Give your pics a black & white or sepia effect

You can give your pictures a classier feel by turning than black and white or sepia. This can be done with any basic photo editing software.

Like I said, you don't have to be a master at portrait photography to take great baby pictures. If you follow these steps and put a little effort and imagination into it, you can take your own adorable baby pictures that you, your friends and family will love
