How To Take a Girl Birthday Shopping

Guide to Buying Your Girlfriend a Birthday Present

Brad Barnes
This guide will focus on the three major points of making the shopping process go as smoothly as possible. You will have a good time (she will be having fun, and want to model for you!) and she will love everything she gets because she will be picking it! The three major parts of this are preparation, learning good places to shop, and the actual shopping. So without further ado, lets get learning!

Preparation
The preparation phase is fairly simple. Start saving up two or three months before, to be sure you have enough money to buy her whatever she may want. $300 to $400 is a good range to stay in, as she wont feel as if you are trying to buy her over, and at the same time she will be very happy with what she gets. See? This, unfortunately, is the simple part.

Popular Stores
This is a very important step. You MUST know the names of at least a few stores you can take her to shop, because if she is shy or feels spoiled she wont want to tell you where she wants to go. To combat this, here is a list of stores that carry fun, good looking clothes, accessories and cosmetics. Make sure you know these well, it will make the process run much more smoothly!

Note: This is not the be all end all list of stores. This is simply a good starting point.

The Buckle
Banana Republic
Rue 21
Express
Victoria's Secret (only if you are intimate, or know each other very well. Otherwise it will seem creepy.)
American Eagle
Sephora
MAC Cosmetics

Shopping
This is the big part. Do everything you can to make it fun for her. On the way to the stores, make sure YOU are driving. Let her choose the radio station or music. Tell her how pretty she is, kiss her hands, stay in physical contact as much as you can.

When you arrive at the store, do NOT look at anything for you. Don't even go into the men's section. One of the worst things you could possibly do is look for yourself. This is her day, make sure she knows it. Have her pick out things that she likes, and have her try them on (she will want to anyway). Be honest about what looks good on her, but never say anything looks bad. Keep her confidence high, and that will add to her having a good time.

Once you begin to get a feel for the style of clothing she likes, you can start suggesting items or bringing her things to try on. Don't make her try anything on, only make suggestions.

Make sure that you visit at least three stores, always following the above procedures. This will give her the chance to get some variety, and not feel overwhelmed.

Be a gentlemen, carry her bags, and buy her what she wants. Make sure she knows you care and that you WANT to do this for her. Make a point that you do not feel like you have to, but that you truly want to treat her to a day or night of shopping because she deserves it.

Make sure not to rush her, keep her feeling comfortable, and let her go to whatever store she wants. Is she likes something you aren't too crazy about... buy it for her any way. Do not make her feel like she needs your approval for what she wants to get. You are taking her shopping, don't say no if she really wants something you don't care for.

If you follow this guide and use your own common sense, she will have a great time and so will you. Be happy that you are making her happy, and do everything you can to make her feel like a queen. Don't forget that small things can sometimes say the most!

Good luck, and have fun shopping!
