Lighting Your camera phone doesn't have a flash, which means that you're going to need adequate lighting to take a good picture. If you're outside, then odds are you're going to have the sun as your friend and you shouldn't worry about the lighting. On the other hand, taking a picture inside isn't exactly the easiest thing to do with your camera phone. Try to have on as many lights as possible, though not directly near the phone because the brightness will ruin the picture. If you have experience with a digital camera and lighting then there isn't much difference in what needs to be done. Just consider that the camera phone is notably weaker.
Distance The average camera phone is usually less than 2 megapixels, which means you won't have the quality of picture and you won't have as much range as you'd have with a regular digital camera. This all comes into consideration with what you can take, which basically means that you'll have to be notably closer to the object than with a regular camera. There is a zoom feature on most cameras, but it usually doesn't make much of a difference.
Angles Gauging an angle for the picture is easier said than done with any camera, but is especially difficult with a camera phone. For one, you'll need to be able to judge everything from close up. Due to the low quality that most camera pictures have, you'll probably want to be dead center on whatever subject you're trying to take a picture of. It makes the picture easier to refine whether you're using the built in features or using a program such as Adobe Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.
Utilize the Camera Phone Features Your phone generally has a lot of features that you might not be aware of. Besides the zoom feature which generally doesn't do much on low megapixel cameras, you can make some surprisingly good pictures by utilizing the resolution options. On most razr phones by Motorola you can make pictures up to 1280x1024, which is basically the size of small desktop images. You can also edit the picture through numerous options such as cropping or adding color tones. By utilizing every option to you, you can create photos that go surprisingly well into an online album or even as printouts.
