How to Take Your Own Professional Family Pictures

Kelly Fleming
Have you ever gone to get professional pictures done of yourself or Family? Maybe you received a coupon and thought you were going to save a ton, only to find out that you needed to purchase different pages or multiple poses. Most of the major department stores like J. C. Penney's and even Sears offer packages. Some of the all-in-one shopping stores like Walmart, and Target have packages available too.

The deals seem hard to pass up, but unless you are one of the lucky few the offer is not that good. In some of the stores the background is outdated, and if it is not pulled down right it will look the whole Family is leaning in one direction.

You can take quality Family pictures yourself all you need is a background, (not the paper one pulled down behind you) a digital camera, a good color printer, and picture paper.

Background:

You can find a great deal of areas in your home for this. If you have a fireplace this is a great place to start you can set the Family up right in front of it. Move them out about 3 feet to where it is safe enough and start a fire. This will make for a beautiful picture.

If you want to take shots of your infant you can use a white sheet, fold it in half and cover half of the couch. This will give you a beautiful white canvas to work with. You can take pictures of anything that will stay in the white area. This will also work if you want to put it on the bed. You can also use different colors backgrounds

Outside pictures work great also you will need to find a picture friendly area in your backyard or even at the park.

Clothing and Accessories:

Having the right clothes and accessories in the picture will help you to get the perfect shot. If you are taking your pictures in front of the Fireplace and it is around Christmas time, you can spruce it up with Christmas decorations.

If you are using the white canvas with your baby you can dress her in white or try to find something that will really bring out her eyes. Maybe even throw in a favorite stuff animal. You do not have to pay per pose so try as many as you want.

Camera, Printing, and Editing:

If there is a timer on your camera this would be great then you would not have to ask a friend to take Family Pictures for you. Tripods will help the camera to remain still if you do not have one don't worry your camera can stand by itself.

Editing is key to removing unwanted items from your picture, maybe you accidently got some of the green couch on the white canvas. There are different programs out there to use a good free program is Irfanview.com. You will be able to crop, and dates, and even turn the picture into black-and-white. There are many other different basic features available with this program

Make sure you have a reasonable program that will help you with printing most printers have their own software. You do not want to print out only one 3 by 5 picture per page, the picture paper can be expensive.

Taking your Family pictures yourself will save you money and you will be able to decide your background, poses and accessories. The best part of this is when you look back on these pictures you will no that you did them yourself. You did not pay an outrageous amount for someone to take them when yours turned out better.
