How to Take Piano Lessons Using the Computer as a Piano Teacher

Learn to Play the Piano at Home at Any Hour of the Day

The most important part of taking piano lessons at home instead of in a piano studio is you must own a piano or a piano keyboard. The first piano lesson using a computer as a piano teacher, will teach the piano student the names of the piano keys, proper fingering, the sound of each note alone and as a basic chord.

Using a piano or a piano keyboard to learn how to play the piano at home is a convenient and affordable way to play the piano or a piano keyboard.

Learn to play the piano for singing. pleasure or for entertaining friends and family. Learning how to play the classics, jazz or Latin music requires hours of practice and learning each major and minor chord and related scales. This type of music requires a full size piano or piano keyboard with 88 keys. However, medium size piano keyboards can be used to play other forms of music.

Learn How To Play

1. Set up your laptop or desktop computer so the online piano lessons can be easily seen on the computer monitor. Search for websites that offer online piano lessons at home that teach children and adults. Piano lessons taught by listening to and watching video music lessons are great. You feel as if you are playing with an at home piano teacher.

2. Look at each note on the keyboard. Notice there are white and black keys. Learn the name and sounds of each key. These seven notes are always the same named notes up and down the keyboard. However, they sound differently depending on where they are located on the keyboard.

3. Begin by striking each key with one finger. Do this up and down the keyboard. Look at the keys and where they are positioned. If you are using video home lessons, watch and hear the video while playing piano at the same time.

4. Do not rush through the at home piano or keyboard lessons. Practice each weekly piano lesson repeatedly until you learn how to play them by heart. Learn proper fingering on the keyboard of the piano.

5. Play the same lesson once or twice a day you can play it in your sleep (figuratively speaking). Take a new lesson every week. Then combine the lessons and play them together as one lesson for the week. Continue to use this method for each lesson. Practice the latest one and then play both together as one. By the last lesson you should be playing the entire piece of piano music.

Practice Makes Perfect

1. Practice every day. Do not advance to the next lesson until you can play the previous one without mistakes. Learn the proper timing as well.

2. Be sure that you hear the difference in tones between the high and the low notes.

3. Practice without distraction.

4. Do not look at your hands or fingers when you practice. Bad habits are difficult to break.

5 Buy an easy piano book. It might look like a child's piano book but it will help you to learn proper piano key fingering and more. You might enjoy playing it while you are taking lessons.

A full sized piano has 88 keys. Buy this size piano keyboard if you are interested in learning to play the classics and similar types of piano music. A smaller piano keyboard is fine for playing other types of piano music. The smaller keyboard are toys.

At the end of July, I was able to slack a little bit, but come August, I must really knuckle down (http://bit.ly/bbUxTI) and get down to brass tacks (looks like one I need to do!) when it comes to writing - as always, still reading, but quick comments!
