Smells which arise. Yes, the first consideration in taking a shower only once a week is the potential body odor. The last two segments of this article will deal with this in further detail, but right now I would like to say that toxicity is the number one cause of body odor, whether it is in small amount or large quantity. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables and consuming quality meat will do a lot toward keeping your system regulated properly. Drinking plenty of water and regularly exercising will expel extraneous toxins. If you take probiotics, take them in the evening so that any ensuing flatulence does not occur in the workplace. Use anti-perspirant, not only for the smell but also to keep your clothes from getting stained.
Skin care. Your skin will be oily at the very beginning of your shower-less days, but will soon regulate oil production and return to normal. It is important to remember that anti-bacterial soap strips your hands of necessary probiotics which your body produces naturally to keep you from harm. Use more water than soap and purchase yogurt or cream soap with more natural ingredients, rather than the drying petroleum products.
Hair care. Keep your hair soft and oil-free by brushing it with a natural bristle all day long. This distributes the oil from the roots to the tips of your hair. Oil from your scalp is the healthiest custom-formula for your hair, so if you have just arrived home from the hospital or if you are very sick, do not wash your hair, but brush it frequently. The oil from your scalp is healing to damaged hair and only coconut oil comes close to mimicking natural hair oil. When you wash your hair, do not use conditioner because your natural oils will replace that need and conditioner will only encourage your glands to kick out an abundance of extra oil.
Drinking fluids. Your body does not have the need to sweat as much if you are drinking healthy fluids frequently. Soft drinks do not fall under this category because they have a toxifying and drying effect on your tissues. Flush out your body with water, lemonade and juice. Doing this on a regular basis will eliminate the need to sweat as much and will help to prevent sweat stains.
Exercising regularly. Though exercise is considered the root of all sweat, it is not. Exercise encourages all parts of the body to remain in a healthy state of motion, which balances out disproportionate sweat, oil, toxicity or dehydration. Exercise is the first thing you need to be able to pull off taking a shower only once a week. Exercise also eliminates stagnate toxins which have yet to come out, but which have been festering in your system due to non-movement.
Taking a shower only once a week can seem like it is not worth the risk. The benefits to your skin and hair, though, will outperform any initial fear. Allow a light layer of oil to coat your scalp and skin, and the differences in the manageability and body of your hair and the softness of your skin will be dramatic.
