My father showed me something he made from Terra Cotta Pots so I had to go and make me one. It was a Clay Bird Bath and how cute it is,
What you will need to do this is: 16 inch or larger Terra Cotta Clay Pot , 16 inch or larger Terra Cotta Clay Saucer , Some paints colors of choice &
Clear Acrylic Sealer Spray . Always wipe off the pot and saucer because they have clay dust on them, Make sure they are dry also. Start by painting any design you want on it and any colors you like, you can use a nifty stencil or blot it with a sponge Like I did , That made it look like marble because I used Grey and white for my colors, Let the paint dry well Then seal it with a good Clear Acrylic Sealer Spray , When its all painted and completely dry Turn the pot upside down so the opening of the pot is face down on the ground then set the saucer right side up on top of the bottom of the pot, fill the saucer with water and watch the birds come, They love it and so precious the little birds are, I also took the smaller pots and did the same thing, But those I uses for bird feeders and put on the rails of my porch worked just great those I painted little flowers on them before I sealed them with Clear Acrylic Sealer Spray . Go at it and have fun with design.
You can take a clay pot and turn it into a great gift basket for that one who loves to garden,
What you need is about a 16 inch Terra Cotta Clay Pot Decorate it with love , Maybe Moms Garden, Dads garden, My grandkids love me, We love you as the plants love the sun. Anything you want. Put a few Items in it for that gardener you love, A hand spade, A hand shovel, A plant spray bottle, A few easy grow packets of seeds, A hand pin wheel and a few garden toys fill it up stick in a card and give as a gift with a we love you.
You can take the tiny clay pots and the smaller ones and make garden bells, You will need as many pots as you want bells for your project, Some med to large bells you can get at any craft store, Fishing line or twine, I feel fishing line works the best for hanging in clumps. Paint decorate and seal the little pots thread them by the holes that are in the bottoms of the pots with fishing line or twine with bells attached and away you go hand on your porch or in the garden what a pretty sound.
The best is for last for all you who love to have the summer cook outs and family back yard get together, Why not decorate your patio, porch and yard tables with clay pot candles, Go and get different sizes of pots with the saucers for a extra touch, Get some candle wax and wicks or just go buy some pillars cut in half so you can make two candles out of one, or get a bunch of votive candles different colors , You will need some acrylic paint and a spray sealer, Paint the saucers of the pots solid colors gives a great look to use summer colors, Paint and spray, drop in a candle and away we go . start setting the tables with different sizes, The porch and yard. Light them up and enjoy the light it brings to your cook out.
