How Creating Content that Goes Viral Can Be Profitable

Mike Burnside
If you own a business and can create good content, you have a great start. If you can get that content passed through the mass market faster than good celebrity gossip, you will have found yourself a virtual goldmine. However, producing good content is one thing, getting it to go viral is another. Let's look at some ways to increase your odds of getting your content to go viral.

Good Viral Content is Video
One of the fastest content to go viral will be video. The public is looking to get entertained and video is the overwhelming choice. Most advertisement campaigns that have gone viral were all video creations.

Going Viral is not About the Budget
There have been many videos that have gone viral that were produced on just a shoestring budget. It's not important that you spend a lot of money on a YouTube video. However, it is important that you create something that is short, two minutes or less, is inspirational, funny or both and looks decently produced. Producing a video using your iPhone on a windy day is not going to give that polished look that causes videos to go viral.

Trust Your Friends for Viral Video
It is always a good thing to try out your content for your video in front of your friends. If humor is what you are going for, don't strive to be the next great comedian. Create what makes you and your friends laugh. If you can get your friends to laugh at the content then there is a chance someone else who sees your video will also. If your satisfied with the content, you're ready to press the record button.

Social Networks Help You Go Viral
After you have recorded your material and spent the time getting it produced and ready for distribution, its time to work your social networks. You need to begin mining your social networks for not only the right people, but also those people who are connect to the right people. You need to take advantage of Facebook, Twitter and e-mail to promote your video content. Make sure to ask your friends on these social networks to pass on your video. However, you must make sure that the video you are passing along is a good one. If you have a bad video, no one is going to want to help you pass another video through their social networks.
