How to Talk to Someone You Are Interested in when You Are Both Shy

Ways to Start a Conversation

Marie Dubuque
You've had your eye on this cute guy for quite some time. You see him, he sees you. Problem is, neither of you has said a word to each other! You realize that he is too shy to talk to you, and you're not exactly chomping at the bit to start a conversation either. But somebody has to make the first move, or the possibility of a relationship is over before you even say "hello."

Point out the Fact That the Two of You Have Never Spoken

Just walk up to him and say, "You know I see you all the time, but I've never even said a word to you. I think it's time we finally speak!" He'll probably laugh and say something that is really witty...or really dumb. It doesn't matter. He's probably blown away by the fact that you bothered to come up to him in the first place. And don't worry if you both stammer around, and not much is said. At least you broke the ice. The conversation will go better the next time you see him (and the next, hopefully!)

Don't Say Anything. Just Walk up to him and Smile

If you walk up to him and just nod and smile, he'll have to say something! No one will just stand there like an idiot. Even the shyest person will say hi. Now you're thinking: Then what? Well, now is your opportunity to get to know him, to see if you really like him; if this is a relationship in the making. Otherwise, you will never know.

Don't Try to Impress; You are Judging Him More than he is Judging You

That is the biggest mistake people make. They are so worried about coming across wrong that they don't allow their true personality to emerge. Don't go in with the attitude, "I want him to like me." No, go in with the attitude, "Why wouldn't he like me, and is he good enough for me?!" When you think that way, you begin to exude confidence. And confidence is a real turn-on!
