Some cats will seem as if they cannot be tamed. In some rare cases, this is true. Most cats can be tamed however. My mom recently found a cat and the cat is a wonderful companion now. It gets along great with her two large dogs. The cat is very friendly and as she would put it, "Almost over-friendly." He's a wonderful cat and he's very cute. This proves the case that stray cats can be tamed and turn into very loving companions. If you have the opportunity to help out a stray cat you can choose to do so if you would like to.
You cannot give up on the cat right away. Taming cats will take patience. If you get a cat when it's still a kitten, these are the easiest to tame and care for. They will turn into very loving cats, despite their wild nature from birth. Some of the wild cats that you see outdoors are not wild. They were once in a home just like yours with heat and a comfy bed to lay on. The owners, for whatever reason, chose to drop the cat off one day and never came back. These cats are also very easy to tame and they become excellent companions.
The first thing you might want to do is catch the cat and place the cat in a safe place in the basement of your home. Give the cat a litter box, food and water and let the cat have the night to himself. You can come down from time to time to make sure the cat isn't stuck somewhere or getting into trouble. You don't want to stress the cat out more than you already have by catching the cat. Then, you will want to call a local vet and have the vet come out to check on the cat. There are mobile vets that you can contact.
Do not give up on the cat right away. It might take up to 6 months for the cat to finally break in and become a loving pet. It's possible to tame wild cats. Remember that every animal deserves the right to have a good home with heat and shelter.
