How Do I Get a Tamed Frizz Look?

Monica Bullock

Frizz isn't what it used to be, it's a hot, unkempt look that fashion followers are rocking in 2012. Those sleek, straightened locks are boring and so 2011. Go for a wilder and semi-natural style with a tamed frizz look. If your hair is not naturally frizzy or if your frizz is too poufy, no problem! You can get frizz easily and only light frizz control is needed. Start in the shower and finish with good products that will keep hair large and voluminous.

  1. Don't use frizz control shampoo or conditioner. Instead, choose a body-building formula. Avoid heavy conditioners that can weigh your waves down. Lighter is better.
  2. Dry the hair with a diffuser attachment. Simply blow-drying will only give hair a straight, boring look. This look calls for controlled style. Use your hands to move the hair around, shaking it at the roots, while drying it. If you don't have a diffuser, dry the ends of the hair only to get a natural, lived-in hair look.
  3. Use a crimper to get controlled frizz. Crimp dry hair starting about 2 inches from the scalp and stopping 1 inch from the ends of hair. Crimp the whole head of hair. If you prefer having partially straight locks with gentle, frizzed ends, straighten the middle section of the hair, not near the scalp or ends. This method looks perfect with long hair styles.
  4. Squirt a dime-sized amount of frizz control gel into the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together than touch the ends of the hair, lightly, with the gel. This controls hair and keeps the tamed frizz look polished and perfect.

Wear a bouffant updo and a half updo if you like a bit more control. Otherwise, let your locks fly and enjoy a frizzy, fabulous look.
