How Do Target's Market Pantry "Chocolate Peanut Bars" Stack Up to the National Brands?

Miss Fortune
Sport bars can be expensive; some of them will cost you upwards of $4.00 each. After falling in love with the Chocolate Graham Zone Bar I started looking for other companies that make the flavor as they sell out fast in my area. Target didn't have anything in the flavor in stock but they did have a Chocolate Peanut Butternutrition bar that caught my eye. This is packaged under the Market Pantry line, their in-store product line. The price of a box of five bars was less than $4.50 so I gave them a try and fell in love with them.

This is not a small wimpy bar; when you grab one out of the box you feel the weight of it. Some sport bars are light and leave you feeling hungrier when you are done with it. Even though Target / Market Pantry pushes the 14 grams of protein on the box and wrapper and uses it as its main selling point, there are other great things about it. The taste is incredible; there is a coating of chocolate on the entire bar and the crunch from the inside is satisfying. There's peanut butter through the entire bar so the soy nuggets aren't falling all over the place.

Market Pantry Chocolate Peanut Butter Nutrition Bars are not meal replacement bars. They should not be used to substitute a well balanced meal. Each bar contains 210 calories, 7 grams of fat, 21 grams of carbohydrates (15 from sugar), 14 grams of protein and 3 grams of dietary fiber. Calorie wise this is comparable to most candy bars but it's the protein that makes it a wiser choice. There is no fake chocolate taste to this so if you have tried other sport bars and were disappointed with the taste, give this one a try. Target offers a "!00% Guarantee" on their Market Pantry products so if you try them and don't like them you won't get stuck with bars you hate. I've never had anyone try one and not like them but it is nice to know that there is a guarantee in place.
