How Tea, Baking Soda or Water Can Calm an Upset Stomach

Have you ever ate to much, or maybe ate the wrong thing and your stomach gets upset to where you feel like you are either going to project something back up or maybe out the other end? Sure you have, and everyone who says no, is not telling the truth. Sure you can wait to go to the doctor and they can prescribe you some sort of prescription medicine, or maybe even better they may tell you to go pick up an over the counter drug that will ease the misery. If you are like me then you are not crazy about taking medications just for the fact you are scared of the unknowns that are associated with prescription drug use no matter if it over the counter or not.

Over the years my mother and my grandmother have always had a few special tricks up their sleeves that help me ease my upset stomach. To this day I still use a great deal of them on myself, my husband and even my children. Take a look below at some of the things I do to cure and upset stomach from home remedies.

Tea

The first thing I reach for is the trusty old tea bag. I boil myself some water and make a cup of hot tea. To the tea I will usually add a tablespoon of honey. The honey gives the tea a sweeter taste and mixed with the tea it coats your digestive tract which is why you are having an upset stomach. If you are allergic to honey, or just do not like the taste and all, then add some peppermint extract to your tea. It works the same way to coat your tract as well as honey will.

Baking Soda

Now here is one from my grandma's home remedy cabinet. I am sure you have baking soda powder in your house somewhere. Most people do tend to keep a box either in their cabinets or refrigerator to keep their food fresh. All you need to do is mix one tablespoon to 10 oz of luke warm to hot water. Mix well and drink. The affect of the baking soda mixed with the water will line your stomach and usually takes around 20 minutes to kick in.

Water

When I was pregnant with my second child I seemed to have a stomach ache almost twice a month. It was so bad that I thought I was going into labor, but really it was just all the different foods I was eating, my belly could not digest it correctly and fast enough. As worried as I was about something going wrong I asked my doctor about it and he did confirm with me that it was a upset belly ache and the best way to get rid of it is plenty of water and exercise. More times then not your upset stomach is just a way to tell you that it is cramping up.

Aloe Vera Juice

When you have a cut you put aloe vera on it. When you have a burn you rub down in aloe vera, when your lips are chapped it is best to use aloe vera lip balm. Do you sense a pattern I am trying to get out here? If aloe vera is good for all those things, then wouldn't you think it is good for an upset stomach. The aloe coats your stomach and also gives it a cool refreshed feeling. When you have an upset stomach, to me it feels like a fire burning in my belly. When I drink aloe vera juice it feels like I am extinguishing the fire! It is calm, soothing and best of all it is all natural! My best advise for you is to drink about 4 ounces for the first time to allow your taste buds to get use to it and see how your stomach takes it. If after 4 hours and your stomach still is crampy, achy then drink an 8 oz. glass worth. Try not to drink more then 20 oz. in a days period.

There are so many great ways to cure a upset stomach with home remedies. I know the ones above have been in my family as long as I can think and they do work well. However, please do not think this is a cure all for a stomach disorder. There is a big difference between ache and pain! If your stomach is a constant pain to you and after you have tried a few different remedies and it still does not get any better then call your doctor immediately. There could possible be further complications you may be facing.
