How to Teach Children to Read

Lora
This article is about how to teach children to read. It is not very hard once you get the hang of it. Some kids are born with the gift and some are not. You just have to be patient and give them time to understand.

Children are very fast learners when it comes to reading. Children love books and love when you read to them.

When children want you to read to them that is the time when you should be teaching your children how to read while you are reading to them. For example, if your child wants you to read them a bedtime story then you read one sentence and let them read one sentence so you are doing what they want you to do and plus you are teaching your child how to read.

Many people get frustrated by how long it takes for a child to learn to read. It takes them so long because they do not know the words from off the top of their heads. You have to teach them to sound out the words and let them know it is ok if they do not get it the first time around.

Make sure you tell your children it takes time to learn how to read so they do not get frustrated as well because they think they are doing a poor job at learning. Tell them that in the long run you they will be reading books all by themselves.

It is good to teach your children how to read when they are young because it helps them grow and become more self efficient in the long run. Many parents give up because it is so frustrating to teach a child something, but they know no better.

The key to everything is patience. Without patience you will get no where in life. Teach your children that patients is the key to everything. I know from experience teaching a child to read is not fun, but in the long run when you look back on it, you can say I never gave up on them or you can say how proud you are of having the patience to complete the teaching to them.

It is better to teach a child how to read with the baby books because there is not a lot of big words in there they do not know or have not heard of before. Always make sure you tell your child that if they are having a problem with a word that you will help them sound it out and that will make them feel that you really are helping them learn to read.

Once they get the basics of reading down like the easy words, then you move to a different age group book but still has to be a children's book, so they know the more tough words rather than just saying you know how to read that is good you are done.

It is very good to teach your children the right way while they are young rather than when they are older because you have more of a handle on them when they are young.

so whenever it comes time to teach your children how to read remember patience is the key to everything and that you are there for them if they get stuck on a word or cannot pronounce a word. Make sure you tell them it is good to learn how to spell out words or pronounce them as well. You will be happy with the results in the end.

Great tips. Reading is so important. I love it when I see someone spreading the word to help others with teaching their kids to read. :-)

Very good article! You've been busy a writing, haven't ya? Well done gal! I found with homeschooling my son that he would memorize his books and then read them to me all in memory, then he associated the words into writing and knowing them
