Goal planning and priority setting are very essential skills which anyone could make good use of. Whether you are in the business world, health care, or plain house keeper, plans must be made. It is one of the most efficient methods so you could fulfill your duties at a given time. That is why, it is ideal that you teach your kids how to develop the said skill even in their young age. This may be a bit tedious for them but you could simplify it and make the methods fit their abilities. Here are a few tips:

List

So they'll have a good guide on what goals to pursue, let your kids write their goals in a piece of paper. Be sure to include two columns beside the list so your kids could mark the things they have already accomplished. The second column could be used for remarks and other notes regarding the achievement of that particular goal. The notes must include their drive to achieve, the perks afterwards and ways on how they could possibly achieve them.

Time Frame

Let your kids list goals which are specific, measurable, attainable realistic and time bound. In this way, there is greater chance for achievement and success. If they make goals which are hard to attain, they will end up being frustrated. Thus, the failure could result. Guide them and encourage them to put time lines and durations. Also, don't make goals which have the same time frames. This is so your kids could focus on one goal at a time.

Tangible Goals

Kids are motivated by colorful reminders and tangible things that can remind them of their goals. If they just keep their plain-written goals in a bland paper inside their cabinet, hey won't have the drive to fulfill them. Furthermore, let them write realistic goals which are far from fairy tales and kids' stuff. Your reason for this activity is to teach them to act maturely, hence, stick to that.

Let Them Be

As a parent, your role is to guide them and be available in times of doubt. Give them the pen and paper and let them list their own goals. Don't tell them what to do or write. They are the holders of their lives so let them be. This is also a good way of teaching them the value of independence in such a young age.

Set Examples

Your kids look up to you. Therefore, set good examples. Show to them how a good planner must be. You are the parent. They will turn to you and how you act for advice.
