How Teenagers Can Lose a Flabby Stomach

Tom Servo

There's nothing more embarrassing for most teens than having a flabby stomach. It's the prime age to get picked on by your peers and feel ostracized. Everyone, mo matter how young or old they are, feels better when they aren't carrying a spare tire around their waistline. When you're a teenager, you're at the perfect age to get rid of your flab and keep it off for good. You have plenty of time to be active; you're surging with growth hormones that promote muscle growth; and you have super-charged metabolism.

Step 1.

Eliminate the junk foods from your diet. Teenagers and junk food are synonymous, but they don't have to be. Just because your friends are eating pizza and cheese puffs doesn't mean you have to. You don't have to starve yourself or only eat foods you hate, either. It's not like you're never going to enjoy another meal again. You just have to replace the bad stuff with good stuff.

Instead of eating white bread, white pasta or white rice; eat whole grain bread, whole grain pasta and brown rice. Instead of eating beef, fried chicken and sausage; eat lean vegetables proteins, like beans and tofu. Get your sweet fix from fresh fruits and fruit juice instead of sugary candies and cookies. Changing your diet is the most important step.

Remember, you have the Internet at your disposable, something other generations didn't. It should not be hard for you to figure what's healthy and what isn't, and how you can replace unhealthy foods with their healthy counterparts.

Step 2.

Pack your own lunch for school. This ties into step 1. The cafeterias in America are loaded with the worst crap. Short of maybe an apple or a pear, you're not going to find anything healthy in your school's cafeteria. You will, however, find a lot of junk, like chocolate chip cookies, chocolate milk, pizza and tater tots. You're no longer a little kid. You can have control over what you eat, even at school. So make your lunch the night before and fill it with healthy foods.

Step 3.

Exercise, exercise, exercise. Yep, you guessed it. This is the second most important thing you have to do. Changing your diet is great, but if you really want to get rid of your flab fast, you're going to have to exercise. If you don't like working out on your own, take up a sport at school. If you don't like sports, you're going to have to workout on your own. It doesn't matter what you do, though, just as long as you get some exercise everyday. You can lift weights, do pushups and pull-ups, go running, go swimming, do yoga, etc…

Step 4.

Don't drink. No, this isn't the PSA part of the article when I tell you drugs and alcohol will ruin your life. The truth is, alcohol is loaded with empty calories. It's not much different than drinking soda or eating chips. Every beer you drink is another 100 calories - give or take - that you'll have to burn off. The same goes for liquor and wine. If you do drink, wine coolers, liqueurs and mixed drinks are the worst because they contain added sugar.
