We all want that movie star smile with the gorgeous white teeth. But we don't want to pay movie star prices to get it. With the economy in shambles and having to tighten our budgets, spending 10 or more dollars for teeth whitening products may be something we can cut out of our budget.

Follow some of these tips to get whiter teeth and tips on how to keep your teeth naturally white.

Make your own toothpaste by making a mixture of baking soda and lemon juice. Apply the paste to your teeth and let set for about 2 minutes then gently brush your teeth. Rinse with equal parts hydrogen peroxide and water. Only do this a few times a week as the lemon juice can wear down the enamel after a while. However, the baking soda and lemon are effective ways of getting your teeth whiter.

For daily teeth whitening, brush your teeth gently with just water. Then, dip your wet tooth brush into some baking soda (about .50cents at most stores) and brush your teeth normally. Rinse with equal parts hydrogen peroxide and water to whiten your teeth at home naturally. Brushing your teeth with baking soda is great for those who have sensitive gums.

Finding out how to keep your teeth white is as simple as stopping some bad habits. By now you should know that smoking causes your teeth to yellow. Coffee, sodas, and even juice can dull your teeth as well. You don't necessarily HAVE to stop drinking coffee or sodas to keep your teeth white. You do, however, have to take care of your teeth by brushing your teeth often with the methods I have already told you about.

You may not have time to brush your teeth several times throughout the day, but, you can rinse your mouth out with hydrogen peroxide or a general mouth wash. Stains attach to tarter build up, so, the more tarter you can clean away the easier it will be for you to keep that movie star smile on a street performer budget.

Just because you can do these simple and cheap things at home to keep your teeth whiter does not mean you should skip seeing your dentist. Clean and white looking teeth are not always indicative of a healthy mouth. Continue seeing your dentist for checkups and professional teeth cleanings. And remember, don't forget to floss!

Caution: Do not swallow the hydrogen peroxide.
