Guys may find this difficult to do because they don't want to hurt the girl's feelings. However, "honest is the best policy." You have to realize that if you do the slow breaking up routine that involves you slowly backing away and telling your girlfriend that you have to work a lot of hours and that's why you cannot call her is a bad approach. You have to be very blunt with your girlfriend and tell her exactly how you feel. Dating is not easy and breaking someone's heart also has its consequences. You shouldn't feel obligated to be with any one person in particular, but you should feel as though you would like to be with someone that is truly going to give you more of what you need. Don't feel sorry for your date, but be open to telling her exactly what's on your mind. Even though you will hurt someone's feelings at times, it's better to hurt their feelings to mislead them into believing that they are going to have a future with you.
