Cancer is probably one of the most difficult diseases to diagnose. This is mainly because there are so many different types of cancer today, and many other types of diseases can also share the majority of these symptoms. This is further compounded because most people don't take the time to have themselves screened for cancer until it is too late.

Cancer can usually to be categorized in two ways. It can be categorized according to the location of the body that it is affecting, and by the seriousness of the disease. Any part of the human body has the potential to be attacked by cancer cells, therefore, early detection is always key in making sure that you get the proper treatment in time.

Some of the more commonly diagnosed cancers in the United States are breast cancer, cervical cancer, lung cancer, and leukemia, or cancer of the blood. Sometimes different populations are at risk for different types of cancer. For example, 9 times out of 10 when you think about breast cancer, you automatically think about a woman. What most people don't realize is that men can also be affected by breast cancer.

Once your doctor has made a determination about the initial stage of the cancer, the disease is then categorized as being stage I, stage II, or stage III. Stage I is usually the least invasive form of Cancer. This stage of cancer, mainly refers to a type of cancer that has only been able to invade the level of cells in which it originated. If the cancer can be caught at this early stage, the patient will have a much higher chance of being able to defeat it.

On the other hand, Stages II and III have to do with cancers that have spread to other areas of the body. More likely than not, these patients will require your a more aggressive type of treatment. If caught early, there is still a pretty high probability that the patient will recover from these types of cancer as well.

Because cancer can involve so many different types of organs, and tissues in the body, it is very difficult to specify what the individual symptoms will be. However, as a general rule of thumb, you can use some of the following warning signs as a signpost to tell whether you may have cancer.

Usually the most noticeable warning sign is an increased level of fatigue, and this is the most widely accepted cancer symptom. Most of the time when people have cancer, they become anemic, this condition is to main cause of the fatigue.

The next warning sign is a sudden or severe period of weight loss. This may be one of the first symptoms that you notice. If you ever lose more than 10 pounds over a short period of time, you should see a doctor immediately!

Other telltale warning signs that you may have cancer is that you may constantly feel like your body is being run down for no apparent reason. You may also notice that you seem to have extended periods of time when your body is running very high fevers.

These are all symptoms and signs that you may be coming down with cancer. However, keep in mind that the same symptoms can also be signs of many other types of diseases. Therefore, it is always a good idea to check with your Doctor if you ever notice any of the symptoms that have been mentioned in this article.
