In this article I am going to teach you four tell signs that you are having a stroke. Strokes are very common and can happen to anyone of any age at any time.
If you are unsure of what a stroke is, let me clear things up for you. A stroke is when brain cells suddenly die in a single area of the brain due to poor blood flow. If you have a clogged artery and it is stopping proper blood flow to the brain.
A stroke can cause brain damage, paralysis, slurred speach, loss of ability to move arms - legs - fingers - etc, and even death.
Symptom one:
Strokes cause a person to lose blood flow to the brain, which means they also lose oxygen that feeds the brains. This will cause weakness. If you suspect someone is having a stroke, ask them to raise their arms above their head. If the person cannot reach their arms up, then there is a problem. If the person can reach their arms up but cannot get them at equal lengths, then there may be a problem. A stroke may be occuring.
Symptom two:
Ask the person to speak a simple sentence, such as "The cat is under the bed." If their speech is slurred, or they cannot complete the sentence, or they are trying to speak and just not making much sense (such as placing words out of order, such as "I first nothing is") then there is something wrong. This individual may be having a stroke.
Symptom three:
Very common symptoms when someone is having a stroke is dizziness, instability, sudden-severe headache, and loss of vision (sometimes only in one eye). All these can be cause by a lack of oxygen to the brain, aka a stroke.
Symptom four:
A very big way to tell if someone is having a stroke is to ask them to smile. If you notice that part of their face is not matching up to the other side when they smile, there is something wrong. If they cannot smile, there is something wrong. If their face appears stiff or their smile looks crooked, there is something wrong. This person may be having a stroke.
If you suspect that someone is having a stroke, look for these four symptoms. If ANY of these symptoms are present, call 911 immediately! Do not hesitate one bit.
