How to Tell If You Are Telepathic

David S
We've all experienced it before: you think of a friend right before she calls or just "know" that a family member across the country is in some sort of trouble. But is it bona fide telepathy, or simply an example of extraordinary coincidence?

Here is a simple test that will allow you to explore your telepathic ability (or lack thereof). I personally know some people who have this ability, but it seems dependent on a number of factors, including the emotional state the subject is in when they attempt a telepathic event. For some, a heightened emotional state helps, while for others it appears a calm and quiet state helps most.

Take a blank scrap of paper and think of a number between 1 and 1,000. Try to write down a number you think is about to appear in your life. After writing the number down, go to a random number generator site (I recommend Random.org, but there are others) and select an integer range between 1 and 1,000. Hit enter.

If your number comes up, this may be an indicator of telepathic or psychic ability. The statistical probability of getting the number right on the first try is 0.1% -- a significant result. The odd of getting it right on your second try is 0.2% and so on.

You can repeat this experiment as many times as necessary to get a rough "feel" for whether you have psychic ability.

Another fun test you can try is to think of a specific friend intently for several minutes. Imagine yourself telling this friend to call you or email you. If they end up calling or emailing you within a few hours, you can count this as another possible instance of telepathic broadcast ability.

Some people are better at telepathic broadcasting -- sending a message to others -- than they are at telepathic receiving (getting a message or piece of information psychically).

Try both, and remember that this is still a widely disputed area of research. Keep this in mind before sharing your results with friends and family. While some find psychic experimentation to be fun and harmless, others consider it "nonsense" (those who believe it is impossible) or immoral (some religions think psychic ability is bad, although of course that seems a little heavy-handed).

Your abilities may improve over time with repeated experimentation; as with any other ability (assuming this one is real), practice makes perfect!
