The first thing to keep in mind when looking for a legitimate work-at-home job is that, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. The reason that so many people fall for scams is that they promise big things for little work. However, there are very few, if any, legitimate work-at-home jobs that will make you a millionaire overnight, or in a few weeks, or even in a few years. And it is almost guaranteed that any work-at-home job that says it will make you rich without a lot of hard work on your part is a scam.
You should watch out for work-at-home jobs that as you to pay any sum of money in advance. While there are some legitimate work-at-home jobs that do make a practice of asking for a fee up front, the fact of the matter is that most scams make their money just by getting this money from you. Unless the work-at-home job you are looking at is a franchise opportunity, you shouldn't have to pay anything up front.
Finally, to tell a legitimate work-at-home job from a scam you should make sure to do your research. Know something about the company for which you would be working. If they aren't running a scam, any legitimate company will give you no resistance about giving out details. Legitimate work-at-home jobs don't hide information from you until after you "sign up" or pay them a fee.
With some hard work and healthy skepticism, it is absolutely possible to tell a legitimate work-at-home job from a scam.
