You will first want to purchase a pot. It can be any size. You will want to purchase the clay pots that are a dark orange color. These are usually the cheapest and it doesn't need to be decorated because you will be painting the pot anyways. These pots are the cheapest that you can buy and you can usually buy them from any local gardening center or Walmart. They are the best choice when it comes to making your turkey decoration. You will also need to purchase a ball that is around the size of a tennis ball. You can pick that up at your local craft store and you can probably find a pot there as well.
Now you will have a pot and a ball. You will need to purchase one color of paint that you would like your turkey to be. I would suggest a light brown colored paint. You can draw in the eyes with a permanent marker. If you would like to you can purchase some white paint to fill in the eyes. You can purchase more colors if you would like to make your turkey more decorative. You will want to purchase a very thin brush to be able to fill in different details. You will want to purchase paint that will hold to the material that you choose to go with for the ball and the clay pot. You will also want to purchase some type of glue that will hold the ball to the clay pot.
You will want to purchase some feathers in many different colors from the craft store. You can purchase red feathers as well as brown feathers. The more feathers the better. Now you will have to paint the clay pot and the ball with the paint that you purchase. Once the paint is dry you can then flip the pot upside down. You will then glue the ball onto the flat part of your pot so it looks like a turkey head on a turkey neck and base. The pot should be upside down and the ball should be placed on the bottom of the pot and this is how the turkey will stay. You will want to glue the feathers all the way around the bottom and back side of the pot. You can many different things to your decoration now at this point.
