How to Thicken Thinning Hair with Essential Oils

Essential Oils Can Help Transform Your Thin, Fine Hair into Lustrous Locks

Langley Cornwell
The quest for thick, healthy hair is ongoing. As we age our hair tends to lose elasticity; it breaks and sheds resulting in weak, thinning hair. You have read the articles about how a nutritious and well balanced diet contributes to thick, healthy hair. And you know that the right hair cut, hair products and hair care assist in the look of thicker and fuller hair. But did you know there are more ways to transform your thin, fine hair into lustrous locks?

Stress and tension are contributing factors in thinning hair. Essential oils improve hair growth and quality by stimulating hair follicles as well as by reducing the amount of stress on your scalp. If your hair is beginning to look dry, brittle and thin, try using essential oils to get thick and healthy hair again.

Essential oil recipe to thicken hair:

Combine two drops of Altar Cedar Wood essential oil, two drops of Thyme essential oil, three drops of Lavender essential oil and three drops Rosemary essential oil.

Mix these ingredients together with 1/2 ounce of carrier oil such as Jojoba Oil, Coconut Oil or Grapeseed Oil.

Massage the mixture into your scalp and finger comb the essential oil treatment through your hair, making sure to generously douse the dry and brittle ends.

You may choose to wrap your hair in a warm, moist towel, a plastic bag or not wrap it at all. In any case, leave the essential oil treatment on your hair for at least 30 minutes.

Wash hair with a protein-rich volumizing shampoo and finish with a protein-based conditioner. Style as usual.

Essential oil recipe to revive hair luster and speed hair growth:

Combine three drops of Lavender essential oil and three drops of Clary Sage essential oil with 1/2 ounce of carrier oil such as Jojoba Oil, Coconut Oil or Grapeseed Oil,

Mix these together thoroughly and blend in 2 tablespoons of Almond Oil.

Follow the application steps above.

Essential oil tonic to slow hair loss:

Combine ten drops of Lavender essential oil, ten drops Rosemary essential oil and five drops of Basil essential oil.

Mix these ingredients together with 4 ounces of carrier oil, preferably Jojoba Oil.

Massage a few drops of this blend into your scalp and through your hair daily to slow hair loss, stimulate hair growth and add a nice shine to your hair. Experiment with the correct amount for your hair texture and length; use less if hair appears oily.

Store the mixture in a clean, dark glass bottle out of the sunlight.

Helpful Tips:

Essential oils known to thicken hair include: Thyme, Cedar, Lavender, Rosemary, West Indian Bay, Basil, Yarrow, Clary Sage, Palma Rosa, Carrot and Chamomile Oil.

Do not use essential oils directly on your scalp, always combine them with carrier oils such as Jojoba, Coconut or Grapeseed Oil.

So does the thickening treatment thicken the existing hair shafts or does it promote growth of new hair over time?

Essential Fatty acids can keep your hair from falling out due to stress. I didn't believe it until I started taking them. I had been losing hair for years, now I have a lot of new hair coming in.
