The Food. Apples couldn't provide a better vehicle for creating tasty birthday dishes perfect for a preschooler or toddler apple themed birthday party. Try serving various apple dishes from apple glazed chicken or pork chops for the main dish, all the way to flavored applesauce for the little ones. Applesauce leather is a fun apple food for older kids attending the birthday as are sliced apples with peanut butter or caramel sauce. The beverages can be apple cider, apple juice, or a tasty apple punch. The birthday cake will be easy. You can either choose to do a simple apple flavored cake, or you can do a spice cake in the shape of an apple. Just bake a round cake, mold it slightly with your knife and add the appropriate colored icing and leaves. You could also go with cupcakes. Just ice cupcakes with red icing and add gummy leaves to create the look of little apples. Sprinkle some leaves all around and add a trunk and you have an apple tree birthday cupcake cake!
The Decorations. An apple birthday party theme is easy to decorate for. Choose red as your base color and go from there. Many school supply and office supple stores will have various apple themed decorations for schools. You can purchase bags of small apples and use the apples themselves to decorate by placing them around the cake and food tables, or floating them in a bowl of water with some floating candles as a centerpiece. Online sources such as Oriental Trading have an abundance of apple themed decorations perfect for a super cute apple birthday party. Red gingham is a great fabric for an apple themed birthday party and can be used for the tablecloth and/or streamers. Red plates with gingham print napkins complete the apple themed birthday party look.
The Venue. The perfect apple themed birthday party could take place at a local apple orchard. Check your area for apple orchards and don't be shy about asking if they offer their grounds for birthday parties. Many apple orchards are happy to comply and create a backdrop for a memorable apple themed birthday party. You may even be able to go apple picking! If an apple orchard isn't available or convenient for your apple themed birthday party choose another outdoor venue. Fall is marked by the crispness in the air and the changing colors of the leaves so an outdoor location is the perfect venue for an apple themed birthday party.
The Games and Activities. Apples continue to be a great birthday party theme when thinking about games and activities. Of course bobbing for apples is a traditional apple game, but this would be too difficult for babies or toddlers to join in with. Look online for apple coloring and activity sheets (check out these ) and print out various ones for the little ones to enjoy at the party. Collect some plastic bottles and create apple bowling by using the bottles as the pins and apples as the bowling balls. You can also play a variation of pin the tail on the donkey by having a large apple printed out along with various little green worms. The children try to "pin the worm on the apple" by getting the worm in just the right location by the apple stem. A final apple themed birthday party activity would be to make applesauce clay. Just mix equal parts applesauce and cinnamon in a zip top bag. Then let the kids enjoy! Sure it's a little messy, but so much fun.
An apple birthday party theme is unique and super cute. Your guests will always remember your baby or toddler's birthday party as being so special if you choose to use an apple birthday party theme.
