The first thing to consider is where are you going to have your party? The cheapest place is in your own home. Most people will choose to have the party in their living room. It's close to the kitchen, where all the food and drink will be, which is a great advantage. Some may choose their family room or basement, which is a great idea also. The food and drink can be placed in that area also. Your party-goers will not really care where you have the party as long as there is food and drink involved.
Now, let's talk decorations! Do you have a favorite team? What are their colors? Many "Dollar Stores" and party stores will have crepe paper, napkins, paper products, such as paper plates, cups, etc., in every color imaginable. When you are on a budget, these types of stores are the best places to go in order to get more bang for your buck! Choose your team colors and you can go wild with the different options that these stores will provide for you in the way of decorations. Remember, you are on a budget, so when choosing your decorations, don't forget to take this into consideration. Nevertheless, I would bet that you would be able to walk out of the store with a great deal that will truly impress your guests!
Food and drink - that is the next important question. With today's rocky economy, I know you are not thinking of having this little shindig catered. After all, there is a budget to consider! One of the best ways to throw a party and believe me, there is no shame in asking, is to ask your guests to provide a dish. This will take some of the pressure off you in providing food for everyone and people love to show off their favorite party dishes. You could also ask them to bring their own drink, if they should drink something other than what you will be serving at your party. This is becoming the norm in party throwing and I can honestly say that I have not attended a party in many years where I wasn't asked to bring food or drink. You could even opt to grill hamburgers or hotdogs, bringing some of that baseball park feeling into your party.
If you decide that you would rather provide the food yourself, choose options that are cheaper. Go to a local party food store or one of those big warehouse stores. You will be able to buy any type of food you want for your baseball party in bulk. This will save you some money. Then check into buying a keg of beer, instead of providing individual liquors. Who doesn't love a cold beer at a baseball game? Since you know most of your partygoers, you will know what they like to drink. You could purchase a bottle of whiskey or rum, which are the two most popular drinks on the market. Don't purchase name brands, this will only increase your cost. No one will notice anyway, once the game begins.
After you have decorated your home with the crepe paper and different decorations that you found so cheaply, put out the food and drink that you are providing for your guests. Don't worry about anything else! Your guests will enjoy being able to have fun at your baseball themed party and will be amazed at how much you did for the budget that you had.
Therefore, there is only one more thing to say! Let's get this party started! Play ball!
