First you will need to either buy or make invitations for the party. You should be able to find some invitations that have butterflies on them. You can also make some out of cardstock and let your daughter decorate the outside with glitter, stickers, and crayons. To make some pretty invitations, just fold a sheet of cardstock in half, and then cut it out to look like one wing. When you unfold you will have the complete butterfly. She can decorate them and you can write on the inside the Date, Time, Place, and RSVP number.
Decorations are a necessity for any party. If you make your own butterfly decorations with your child using these directions, you can hang them up for the party. You will not only be using homemade decorations, but you will also be displaying your child's creative artwork. You can also find decorations at your local stores; one great resource for supplies is Dollar Tree. They have a variety of craft supplies too.
You will need a few basic activities that are themed for the birthday party too. You can have a piñata in the shape of a butterfly. You can also make a piñata yourself, here are some instructions for a very simple one, you actually only make the body. If you do not have time to make one, you can buy a nice one here. Next you can actually have a project for the guests by making your own wings. You can ask the parents to either provide the items needed or you can provide them for them. Some great directions are here, but I will suggest using quick drying paint, or finding another way to decorate them.
Next you can make a butterfly cake, you can search online for a design or you can look at my articles, I have written a how to make a butterfly cake guide. It will take you through it step by step. Your little girl can also help decorate the cake. You can also make a colorful punch, which you can tell the guests that it is butterfly punch. An easy recipe is to take one 2 liter of ginger ale, one 2 liter of 7 up, one can of pineapple juice, and a tub of any flavor sherbet that you like. Mix it all together and you will have an excellent punch.
This is just another fun party idea for your child. Have fun with the butterfly birthday party!
