How to Throw a Fun and Unique Superbowl Party

Everything You Need to Know to Throw a Superbowl Party to Remember

Laura J. Lovell
It's time to start counting down the days to the Superbowl! This year we have the privilege of watching the top seeds in each conference battle it out in Florida for the title of NFL Champions. Will it be Drew Brees making the Aints into Angels or will Peyton Manning take the time out of his commercial career and show the serious side of his talent?

On Sunday February 7th at 6pm EST/3pm PT on CBS, we will find out, but in the meantime you have a party to plan, a casual get together of football loving people also love to have a good time, so here is all you need to know to make your football party one that everyone will talk about after the game.

First thing is you need to serve food. Snacks and appetizers are best, nachos, wings, things you can eat with your hands that don't require forks or spoons. Here are two amazing dip recipes for your party.

Bandera's Cheese Dip

(2) 8 oz. (2) 8 oz logs of "Tillamook Special Reserve Extra Sharp Cheddar" or Vintage White Extra sharp cheddar....(this recipe hinges on the cheese, make sure it's extra sharp!) Grate the cheese coarsely in Cuisinart if you have one, otherwise grate as finely as you can.Look for this cheese by the deli where all the specialty cheeses are. You can also try, Vintage Choice Extra Sharp Cheddar by Cabot, it's in a black wrapper.

1/8-1/4 C Cilantro
2 oz. Pimento (Drained well)
2 Fresh Jalapeno Peppers (seeded-stems removed)
2 Green Onions, use the green and white parts
1 scoop Best Foods Mayonnaise (may need more, adjust to the right consistency)
Salt & Pepper Dash of each to taste
Tabasco Few dashes for heat, to taste

After grating the cheeses in the Cuisinart remove and place in a bowl, chop the cilantro, pimento, jalapeno peppers, and the green onions in the Cuisinart. It's not necessary to chop the peppers or green onions, just throw them in the mixer. Mix all of the ingredients. Adjust seasoning to taste. Serve with Tortilla chips

Spicy Taco Bean Dip

1 can Spicy Bean Dip (usually found in chip aisle)
1 -16 oz Sour Cream
½ lb Shredded Cheese (cheddar or jack and cheddar is best)
¼ cup cilantro
¼ cup chopped onion (more if you like onion)
1 package taco seasoning
Mix Spicy Bean Dip into taco seasoning, in pie pan (glass or dark) layer bottom with bean dip after taco seasoning is mixed in, next add sour cream, then shredded cheese, then onions and cilantro on top.
Heat oven to 350 and put dip in oven just until cheese is melted and sides are bubbly. Should be around 10 minutes. Cool for about 5 minutes and serve warm with Tortilla Chips.

Superbowl Bingo

Before everyone arrives, create simple Bingo cards, by making a 25 squares or finding a printable one online like this http://www.bingocardprinter.com/bingo_blank.php
In each blank square write something you would see on TV during the big game, including commercials.
Randomly place them on everyone's cards in different spots, you can do this by hand or on a computer.
Make sure you rotate where they are located or everyone will get Bingo at the same time.
Examples are: Beer Bottle, Beer being poured, Horse, Girl in Bikini, Danika Patrick, Coke Commercial, Race Car, Touchdown over 50 yards, Quarterback runs in a touchdown, extra point, field goal, gratuitious cheerleader shot, announcer shot, interceptions, fumbles, animals, mascots, offensive penalty, score change, microphone (at halftime) fireworks, small child, Doritos, be creative and let everyone know it's up to them to watch for this stuff and whoever gets Bingo just calls it out when they fill up their card. You can make it as easy or hard as you want.

Another game is to give everyone or every couple a name of an offensive player or defense when they arrive, such as Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, (the running backs, wide receivers, and each defense) put it on a name tag and have them wear it, whenever their player does something great, toss a football around to them, whoever has the football at halftime and the end of the game wins a prize. Make sure everyone knows who they have and everyone will pass it along as each player scores a touchdown or defense gets an interception, this will work best with a group of about 8-10 people or couples.

Have a football pool or raffle, guess how many candies in a jar, just get people involved!
Buy prizes for Bingo and Trivia Winners. Even the guys will like prizes, make them theme oriented or something you know everyone would like.

Decorate:

Buy your streamers and party favors in team colors, blue and white for the Colts and Black and Gold for the Saints. Don't forget to color coordinate the plates, cups, tablecloths, even plastic forks and spoons in coordinating colors. You can also tie in brown and green, typical football colors, representing the football and the turf.

Kids
If anyone brought children to your event, set up an area away from the TV viewing area for them to play, do crafts, color, have a snack and basically stay out of the way of the tv as kids seem to wander into the line of view and many people can be really into the game and don't want to miss a moment.

Don't forget dessert!
Make or buy a football cake, or make a bunch of cupcakes and frost into a football shape with chocolate frosting and white icing to make it look more like a football.

Seating
Make sure you have plenty of seating where everyone has a clear view of the television and comfortable chairs.
Pull out the tv tables so everyone can set their snacks and drinks on something.

And don't forget to have a great time!
