How to Throw a Great Halloween Party for Under $50
A Spooky Graveyard Themed Party with Great Ideas You Can Do on Your Own
The theme of this Halloween party is graveyard and skeletons. Shop around for the best prices on my supplies list and watch for sales at craft stores.
Supplies list:
2" styrofoam balls at least 12
Twine
Large bag of assorted Halloween Candy
2 orange plastic tablecloths
4 black plastic tablecloths
Halloween goodie bags
Old white sheets or pillowcases
Blank cd-r
25 pack of white cardstock 8x11
Black Fabric Marker
Halloween themed ribbon (Walmart)
Scissors, tape, glue gun.
First figure out how many people you plan to invite to your Halloween party. Two of the black tablecloths will be used for a backdrop for decorations so please adjust accordingly based on how many tables you think you will need to decorate. The same goes for the goodie bags. Buy the tablecloths and the goodie bags from the Dollar Store.
Make your own invitations. This website has premade designs and you can actually type the info for the party with date, times etc, into their form and it will generate the invitation for you already done, all you have to do is hit print.
For our themed party we will be using the Eyescream design. With the skeleton and bats. The website is
Evite.com. You will be printing your invitations on the white card stock, you can either make your own envelopes or buy them at the Dollar Store.
Make sure that you include inside the invitations to Please bring Snacks to Share, this will help you keep your costs down.
To save on postage try and hand out as many invitations as you can this will cut down your cost dramatically by hand delivering them.
For Halloween music you can download popular Halloween songs like Monster Mash and scary sounds for free off the internet click here for my article on the top 10 websites you can find free Halloween music for your Halloween party. Lots of screams, doors creaking, wolves howling, great sounds for a scary graveyard. Once you download the songs you want, burn them to cd.
Next visit a company that I buy a lot of my party decorations from Oriental Trading Company. They have a great Halloween catalog, and what I love is that you can buy products in dozen lots, inexpensively. Sign up for email sales and they will send you a coupon for FREE shipping. In the search box type in Design A Room Phantoms this is a set of vinyl decorations with 3 mausoleums, 3 black crows, 4 skeletons with a tombstone, an eeery sign, this set will be used along with the black tablecloths for a backdrop for photos at your party. All this for $9.99 a great deal. And they are large to cover the wall.
Tape the black tablecloths to a wall say in your garage overlapping slightly, you may want to see use push pins so it doesn't fall. Then tape the Phantoms set . Now you have the perfect graveyard scene.
Also pickup a dozen stretchable spider webs and the creepy clothes for $6.99 each. You can use these to decorate inside and out. The spider webs come with the spider which is great.
For party favors you are going to take the goodie bags fill with candy, and tie with the Halloween themed ribbon.
As an activity for your Halloween party you will have a costume contest. You will need enough small pieces of paper for your guests to vote for the Scariest Costume, Funniest Costume, Best Costume, and Grossest Costume.
You are going to make Ghost Awards for them. Cut rectangles out of the pillowcases or white sheets. With black fabric marker draw faces on them. Then write in words Scariest Costume Etc on the bottom front. Cut a small hole on the very top and take the twine to make a hanger , knot in the inside and glue the knot. Then take the two inch stryofoam ball and place inside the sheet, tie with a rubber band and then with the Halloween themed ribbon. Glue into place. Use the other ghosts for decorations at your party.
With these steps you will have a Halloween party your guests will never forget, that didn't put you in a financial pinch. Happy Halloween!
