How to Throw a Halloween Party for Tweens

Cherie Bowser
Tweens are the young adults that are no longer children who are around the ages of 9 through 12, but are not yet a teenager. Throwing a Halloween party for a tween can be a lot of fun for the in-between kids. Your tween can have the best Halloween tween party by letting them choose what they would like with your approval. This way you can be sure your tween won't be embarrassed by you picking something out for the Halloween tween party that is considered for a kiddie in their eyes.

The first question to ask your tween is if they would like to make it a tween Halloween costume party. Some tweens may choose to do this, and some may choose not to, but at least they can have the decision in this area.

Next, you will have to pick out Halloween party invitations for your tween to send to their tween friends. A great way to make a tween Halloween party invitation is by using Halloween decorated stock paper as the invitation. Have your tween pick out their own invitation so they can pick the one that is perfect for their in-between ages and not a kiddie Halloween invitation. You can visit the Colors by Design website , or you can check out any of your local stationary or art supplies stores. The Colors by Design website has many to choose from and you can order the paper as blank stock or they can personalize the Halloween invitation flyer for you.

When it comes to picking out the decorations for your tween Halloween party, Oriental Trading is a great place to shop. Have your tween go online with you so they can choose what they feel is not a kiddie decoration so everyone will be happy and your tween won't be embarrassed with what you pick out. There are over 175 Halloween decorations to choose from on the Oriental Trading website.

Tweens love games, but there are some that they may feel like are kiddish to them. Some great websites to check out with your tween are the Party 411 website and the Party Game Ideas website.

The Party 411 website offer activities and games that include the following:

Make a Tombstone
Pumpkin Carving Contest
Decorate Pumpkin Cookies
Scavenger Hunt
Mummy Wrap
Tie an Orange Ribbon
Halloween Sticker Stalker
Touchy Feely
Body Part
Scary Story Contest

The Party Game Ideas website has games that include:

Trick or Treat Game
Halloween Bingo
Build a Scarecrow
Candy Corn Catch
Halloween Spooky Sounds Story
Halloween Picture Puzzle
Tragic Sam
Halloween Costume Scavenger Hunt
Guess Me, If You Dare!

After you figure out the invitations, the decorations, and the games you want to plan the food. The Disney Family Fun website has numerous fun Halloween recipes that you and your child can choose from that you can make at home yourself. Some of the monstrous munchies recipes include apple bites, cheese fingers, cheesy corn kernels, edible eyeballs, goblin tongues, haunted hands, melon brain, mini witch brooms, monster paws, pear witch project, pizza mummies, and more. There are petrifying party foods that include bat chips, black bean cat crudités, bug juice, creepy peppers, crunchy witch's brew, eerie eyeballs, and more. There are many creepy cakes and cupcakes that include brain cupcakes, cake o'lantern, classic pumpkin pie, creepy crawler mud pie, daddy longlegs cupcakes, and much more. There are sweet and scary treat recipes that include brain surgery salad, candy-filled pumpkin, chocolate slime, chocolate toads, cookie spooks, and more. There are recipes for ghoulish grub that include ghost toasts, pumpkin pie-slices, pumpkin smoothies, pumpkin soup, spaghetti with eyeballs, roasted ghosts, worms on a bun, and more. You can find all these recipes on the Disney Family Fun website.

Your tween Halloween party can be a lot of fun and will turn out perfect for your tween if you let them be involved to pick out their own invitations, decorations, games and food.
