How to Throw a Halloween Party for Children

Throw a Fun Halloween Party for Kids

Eric Abrego
Halloween is a holiday when everyone can have fun, dress up and eat all the sugary snacks that they can get their hands on. Throwing a Halloween party for your kids or a group of kids is a great way to enjoy the Halloween holiday. To throw a Halloween party you first need invitations to pass out to the children and parents that you want to attend, so a good idea would be to print out the party information with the date, time, location and include in the invitation that all children are invited to come in costume. When you're setting up for the party, decorate the party room with balloons, jack-o-lanterns, black crepe paper streamers and Halloween novelties. It is a good idea to set large plastic bowls full of candy on zinc and wooden pedestals. Also brighten up the party room by placing colored bean bag chairs through out the room.

When you put kids together it doesn't take much for them to have fun, but there are some great activities that you can include at the party for the kids to have more fun. A great idea is to let the kids make candy necklaces, you can do this by stringing life savers or gummy savers onto ribbon. If you want to gross out the kids play a game of "guess what's in the jar" with them. The way to do this is by having several jars (with wide enough openings for several kids to stick their hands in at one time) and then cover them with fabric or tinfoil. Have each child stick their hand in once and try to guess what's in the jar make sure it is something Halloween related. Fill each jar with something gooey, sticky and mushy to completely gross the kids out, something such as cooked spaghetti noodles and call them worms, grapes covered in apple sauce and call them eyeballs and slime and call it brains.

Another fun game to play is chubby bunny. To play this game you have to have a few bags of marshmallows with you. Then get every kid together, give each of them one marshmallow and then go down the line and make each one of them say "chubby bunny". After everyone has said "chubby bunny" go down the line again and make them put another marshmallow in their mouth and try to say "chubby bunny" again. Keep repeating this process to see who can clearly say "chubby bunny" with the most marshmallows in their mouth, disqualify those who can't say "chubby bunny" clearly with the marshmallows in their mouth. Give the winner of the game a sweet prize or a candy basket.

Serve fun Halloween drinks at your party. By mixing a yellow beverage with blue Kool-Aid the result would be a green drink which is consistent with the Halloween theme, serve the drink in a plastic witch's cauldron. At the end of the party send the kids home with a goody bag that is filled with a mix of Halloween treats and healthy foods. Include in the bag, candy corn, pop corn, raisins and of course candy. Throwing a great Halloween party for kids is not that hard, a good atmosphere, great kids, lots of candy and lots of fun can make any Halloween party great.
