How to Throw a Low Cost Childs Birthday Party

Call the kids for invites of make your own invitations. Let your kids color them or decorate them. If your child is old enough they can write the information out on them.

Have the kids design and color their own table cloth. Tape white shelf paper down and let them decorate it. Also, you could use black and white weekly comics to decorate the table and give the kids at the party crayons or markers to color it.

Bake your own cake and serve it with ice cream and juice. Keep it simple. If you are worried about juice stains, serve white grape juice, Sprite or club soda. There are several uncolored alternatives.

Play noncompetative games so you don't have to give out prizes. Don't feel cheap about this. Children are happier not having to compete and potentially be labeled the loser. Or, you could give out stickers, sticking them to the child for everyone that plays. Remember that some kids would rather watch then be included, and that's perfectly ok.

Don't give out treat bags and candy. Let the children decorate their own crafts, such as a paper bag mask to take home. The child will enjoy making something themself, they will have a lasting memory from the party, and it will fill time during the party.

Tie balloons outside your door so guests know where you live.

When choosing games for the party, you can ask your child or your child's teachers which games are favorites in class. Keep games simple so kids aren't frustrated and confused by complicated or unfamiliar games.

Don't feel guilty about economizing. The kids can have just as much fun with less money. You could always have the party at the park, weather permitting, making use of the playground equipment.

Remember that it's ok to ask another parent to help. Have a great time!
