How to Throw a Makeup Trading Party

Rosallee Scott
Throw a makeup trading party to get rid of the cosmetics that don't work for you and get ones that do for free. Gather all your girlfriends together for a night of makeovers and fun. Make it an annual event so all of your friends know to hang on to the beauty products they buy but just doesn't work for them like they thought it would.

Items Needed to Throw a Makeup Trading Party:
Disposable Cosmetic Sponges and Makeup Brushes
Cotton Balls
Cotton Swabs
Wash Clothes
Makeup Remover

The Invites
Specify in the invitations whether it'll be just an evening get-together or an all night good old-fashioned slumber party. Tell your friends to gather together all of the beauty products that they have laying around that doesn't look as good on them as they pictured they would in the store. Tell them to go ahead and bring skin care products, clothes, jewelry and shoes that don't fit as well.

Clear a Space
Make sure that a large surface, such as the dining room table or kitchen island countertop is clear to place all of the products on. Have a mirror close by and ample lighting to ensure that you will all be able to see how the different colors and styles look on everyone.

Take Turns
When you throw a makeup trading party, be prepared to settle disputes if two or more people want the same item. Have a hat handy to put names in and draw them out or have people choose numbers on who gets to pick first in the different categories of makeup, skin care, clothes, shoes and accessories. Limit the number of items if necessary as well.

Be Prepared
Make sure to have wine, margaritas and other beverages to pass out while trying everything on. Play upbeat music and have plenty of finger food snacks on hand to ensure everyone is satisfied. If the trading ends early, make sure to have backup activities, such as a fun board game, card game or a stack of chick flicks to choose from.

Above all, throw a makeup trading party to have fun and bond with your friends. The beauty tips and tricks you learn may be invaluable and getting free cosmetics is nice but the memories are what will become priceless.
