How to Throw a Reigning Super Bowl Party

Well, preferably, everyone at your party will be rooting for the same team - this may help to keep any arguing, food-throwing, etc., to a minimum - especially if there will be large amounts of alcohol consumed.

It should go without saying that providing your guests with a big-screen HDTV will help to prevent them from deciding to go with 'plan B' and accepting the invite they likely received from the Jones'!

It is always impressive to guests of a party when they arrive to find that their favorite drinks and snacks have been thoughtfully provided. Don't underestimate the importance of doing your homework on this - they will come back time and time again for that red carpet treatment! Seriously - consider your mood after attending a function/get-together where you found the refreshments to be unimaginative and uninspired (and I know you don't want your VIP's going away with a lackluster opinion of your hosting skills!).

This is certainly a perfect opportunity to take a trip to Costco to pick up some key items in bulk - such as those sought after (quickly disappearing) delicious hors d'oeuvres that look great plated, and are always a hit with the palate. This would also be the time to make sure to purchase a little more beverage items than you think you'll actually need (it would be much worse to run out during the party) and be sure to get ingredients for drink mixers that the guests can whip up themselves if they want to - everyone always thinks they are the master of the blender (I know - my friends squabble over this almost everytime!).

Having party favors to distribute among your guests is always a crowd pleaser - and what you provide will, of course, be dependent upon the size of your budget for the party - but you could do some research on this and perhaps give favors that either reflect your personality, or the individual guests personalities - which will, either way, likely cause a lot of lively/spontaneous banter!

Recording the entirety of the game (inclusive, obviously, of those awesome superbowl commercials) is a no-brainer - there's always someone who missed something, and ends up bummed out about it, and it doesn't hurt to 'save the day'!

And, last but not least, be sure to have a back-up plan ready for your guests to get home (or to spend the night at your place) in case they indulged in a little 'margarita tasting' even though they had intended to remain in a sober state, and had every intention of 'getting behind the wheel' after the festivities!

'Nuff said - now go and throw the reigning superbowl 2008 party that we all know you have in you!
