Rubber Ducky Birthday Invitations
Again, this can be difficult to find without the baby shower look. I found these on Zazzle.com. Just a picture of a bunch of toy ducks wearing shades and the word PARTY along the side. And they can be personalized as well. Cost in bulk (10 or more) 68 cents each! Another clever idea would be to get generic birthday party invitations and toss in some rubber ducky confetti that I found at Ezpartyzone.com for $1.99.
Rubber Ducky Birthday Cake
If you're a decent baker and cake decorator, pick up a rubber ducky cake pan and make your own birthday cake. Wiltons makes a 3D pan with the rubber ducky design that sells for about $18. If you buy it at a craft store like Michaels or AC Moore, wait for the Sunday paper to get a coupon with the circulars.
For those of us without that much cake decorating talent, pick up a cake at your local bakery and ask if they can transfer an edible photo or picture of a rubber ducky on your cake. Edible transfers can cost $5-$10.
Rubber Ducky Decorations
This is an adult birthday party, so try keep this from looking too childish. A party supply store like Party City should have rubber ducky mylar balloons. Pick up 1 or 2 balloons for the guest of honor's seat at the table. Scatter across the table toy rubber duckies that you can buy in bulk from from places like Party City or Orientaltrading.com. A dozen usually costs around $5-$8.
Rubber Ducky Party Favors
There are loads of ideas for party favors that keep with the rubber ducky theme. Here are two examples I have come up with:
-If you do chocolate molding, try making rubber ducky candy pieces. Wiltons sells a rubber ducky candy mold that makes 6 ducks at a time. Place 1 or 2 ducks in a cellophane favor bag with blue shredded paper at the bottom to make it look like the duck is floating on water.
-Go to your local party supply or craft store and pick up the following items: rubber ducky shaped cookie cutters, yellow icing, yellow ribbon, and cellophane favor bags. Use a sugar cookie mix to make some ducky cookies and spread the yellow icing on them. Place in favor bag and tie with yellow ribbon.
